* Set Active Sky Next to Run as Administrator - I'd never read anything about having to do this ever before.

That's pretty standard, actually, and should be one of your first thoughts if something doesn't seem to be working properly.

Think about it:

One program is trying to affect another program and change files external to it.  What else runs its own code and tries to affect other programs and change files external to it?  Malicious code.  So, UAC sets up a default situation where programs cannot run as admin unless you give them permission.  If you don't give them permission, then UAC will step in to prevent the programs from making changes.

If you ever have a program that is supposed to interact with another, it ABSOLUTELY needs to be run as Admin.

Everything works very fine here!

Perhaps you want to try this:

KNPA (Pensacola, FL, USA), April 30th 2014, 11:00Z (dawn), ASN historical weather! CBs, TS with microbursts and precipitation all around...

This has been my testing (performance) scenario since the beginning of last May. So today/tonight it showed:

WOW! WXR works great and the performance/framerate of the T7F SP2 SP1 was even better than of the NGX (SP1c)!

Great job PMDG and BIG THX!

And now straight to the 777-300ER cockpit and do some short hops here and there

Well thanks for that, I thought that something was wrong when I didn't even get a single green spot on the pfd. Until I backed up my fsuipc key assignments and created a new ini file, then started the sim at KNPA same date and time as you suggested and Bingo... Works perfectly :-)

Hi,

I installed SP1 and ASN, also tried the methods told as solution but still I don't see any weather on my ND? What should I've been missing? I also have FSUIPC. Thanks.

Yesterday I got my WX worked after reinstalling the ASN work well until the weather update my own ASN in the fsx and no longer worked there more.....

I think my radar does not work with the ASN but if it works with the default fsx weather still use my WX played without running ASN

Mine works sometimes and other times it doesn't..I think it's something to do with FSUIPC which I installed recently...

That doesn't make any sense. Yes, with ASN installed you can see weather display from default FSX weather, but the display will not be accurate at all.

To get an accurate weather display you must install and run ASN.

I have the ASN installed but when I open the fsx radar does not work and I close my ASN and if it works with the default fsx weather is not how to fix this

Just because you don't see anything on the display doesn't mean it's not working. I know it's weird but here's why:

In default FSX, it's showing you where there might be rain, but it's probably wrong.

With ASN, it's showing you that there is no rain, so no display. There will only be weather display when there is rain.

Another way to test: with ASN running, tune your radio to 122.0. Do you hear any reports of rain?

was now at an airport and ASN paragraph map you saw with blue parts green parts and yellow and FSX showed much cloud and lightning and showed nothing in the WX and not to do and what the tune the radio 122.0 shows climatic information you have to tell me all frequencies climate and Communication WX think not only depends buttons orpimir this must have some logical

  • 3 weeks later...

Just one more +1 to the officially posted solution here.

One thing I did without issue was first back up my FSUIPC.ini file, then carry out the instructions.

Once the weather radar displayed fine (it did first time with the fresh FSUIPC install), I restored the backed up FSUIPC.ini file and got all my mapped controls back as well.

Server:FSX Client ASN

Simconnect is working...I/O ports all working...All firewalls and virus programs de-activated...FSX connection is made...after a few seconds weather appears on the FSX screen...Then a few seconds later Error! ASN cannot control ambient weather parameters correctly, thus it cannot function properly at this point and will shut down. Please make sure you have proper rights/ownership of the Program Files (x86) folder and have trusted/excluded ASN from your security software, as well as the simulator's as-srv folder and included .dll modules. Networked setups also need port 445 opened.

I have done all the above...Nothing is improving...before I clicked on OK to close the program, I am watching the LOG

Time: Radar UpdateData:Transmission signal bypassed as last signal transmission failed

I understand that, but what do I do next....I am using the latest version download as of 10/11/2014

Maybe I overlooked something...I have followed all the steps to the best of my ability to correct the situation...Any ideas???

Yes, and not to be too blunt or rude, but, contact HiFi support.  It's their product.

For what it's worth, I had a bear of a time trying to get things to work nicely on a networked setup.  Moved ASN to my sim rig and all the problems disappeared (and I'm not just your average home user messing about with network settings - my main job is network consulting).  Your sim computer will probably barely even notice that it's running anything extra if you have a reasonable (multi-core) machine.

Hi Bob,

I had the exact same issue with SP1. My issue was caused by he 'as-srv' dll in the FSX folder had not properly been trusted by FSX. I fixed it by unistalling SP1, reinsalling pre-SP1 then the SP1 update. When I did that the dll was properly challenged by FSX which I approved. I'm running ASN on a networked client.

Delete Fsuipc didthe trick, if you don't really need it.
