August 17, 201411 yr Bah whatever.... Something doesn't work...? Once the file is changed to 4,0 and saved and all the shader files deleted do we then add a check mark for HDR? Anything else to do here? How about a concise summary of other display settings that you are using? I am still seeking a sharper looking VC panel. Mine still needs better (higher) texture resolution and is too dark. Yes, you have to turn on HDR on P3D otherwise nothing will happen! Considering the texture resolution (you mean AA or the actual texture resolution...?): HDR does nothing with that, really. Considering things being too dark: I personally had my video card setup through the nVidia CP (not NI!) to make everything a bit darker (lowered brightness, contrast and gamma) because without HDR (which I never liked and hence never used up to now) everything was way too light/bright on my PC. Now that I have turned on HDR I have set those nVidia CP settings back to default. I also am using a specific preset for my Samsung screen (MagicBright > Game). All this together really turned the lights on in P3D!!! Together with Volumetric clouds this tweaked 2.3 HDR option has changed the 'game' for me, I have to say. I was a bit pessimistic about my future with P3D (for various reasons) but right now I have to say I am quite happy with what I've got. Anyway, what I wanted to say: turning on HDR may require changing some video settings in Windows and on your monitor to get the best result! Did another flight today and the 4.0f settings is really great. Boy, what a tip this is! Best P3D tweak so far! (It's also the only tweak I am using... ^_^ )

December 30, 201510 yr Hello, does somebody know if this is valid in 3.1 also? I do not find the lines mentioned in the first post. Or have I maybe overseen them in the HDR.hlsl? many thanks Guenter Steiner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betatester for: A2A, LORBY, FSR-Pillow Tester --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

December 30, 201510 yr Does this addition in the .cfg work in 3.0+? Since 3.0 HDR has been way to slow as I was able to use rob's tweak in 2.5 which was perfection. Simon
December 30, 201510 yr Hmm I was wondering why this thread get resurrected  With v3, you can play with the HDR settings to suite your preferences, I don't believe these tweaks applies to v3 anymore. That's what I thought; only 3 HDR variables to alter in game though; none seem to help the long delay of light and dark while view switching... Simon
December 30, 201510 yr ADAPTATION_RATE_SCALAR look that up. It goes in your cfg thanks for answering. But what cfg do you mean? i can't find it in the prepar3D.cfg and not in the HDR.hlsl ... December 30, 201510 yr thanks for answering. But what cfg do you mean? i can't find it in the prepar3D.cfg and not in the HDR.hlsl ... That's because it's non standard. You'll need to add it. I use 1 Prepar3D.cfg David Graham Google, Network+, Cisco CSE, Cisco Unity Support Specialist, A+, CCNA
December 30, 201510 yr And in what section? So, you mean you add: ADAPTATION_RATE_SCALAR = 1 ?? Are there other values? What is slower, what is faster? January 1, 201610 yr Did you get it to work? No, I need that questions answered. I do not know in what section I have to put it. And I wanted to know please what are the standard values and what range I can choose or if it is just 1/0? many thanks!!!! January 1, 201610 yr just checked google. adaption rate scaler is to be added under [Graphics] in cfg seen example where its set to =1 still don't know the range though running p3dv3.1, will try tweak later do we need this in 3.1

January 2, 201610 yr tried it hasn't broken anything is the most I can. But am no expert regards visuals. google SDK and the name of that constant should take you to page where the constant is described as controls frequency of light change etc. Am no expert, added it to cfg under graphics, will try with various times of day
