May 6, 201511 yr Author Commercial Member Does anybody know what road widths does UT (USA or Europe) use? Their roads don't look too narrow or too wide. That would be easier than guessing... I do not know... but if 70m is too wide and your are too narrow, something in between should do! Probably the values I gave fall in that region... Also, good news! I have the coastlines done, now it is time for the lakes. Should be way faster than with the coastlines! Then the masking landclass and we are ready to pack it up Another thing is I'll be off grid from this Sunday to the next... work is sending me off to a deserted air force base here in Peru where Internet connection is probably going to be there in 20 years from now ...
July 11, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Does anybody know what road widths does UT (USA or Europe) use? Their roads don't look too narrow or too wide. That would be easier than guessing... Luis, Did you do anything about the roads? Also, did you fix the landuse errors? If you do not feel like it, just upload the SBuilder files to the DropBox and I will eventually work it out. Since you made roads in a single file for the whole continent, changing the width will take you 1 minute to change the parameter in SBuilder and probably 2 to complie for each road type... Let me know!! EDIT: I have your sources for the landuse files! Enough to allow me to complete the scenery if I do not change the roads. Still working on lakes, but Brazil is done, it was the largest area so...
July 13, 201510 yr Mario, as far as I remember, I shared with you 2 versions; the older one had all roads in a single file. You discouraged me from doing so and that´s how I ended up with the newer one (a file or two per road type). Let me try today/tomorrow and I´ll recompile the roads with the new widths. Just a single line change in the .scm file directly (I still keep them) should do the trick. Regarding landuse files, I have to thank you, since I couldn´t manage to fix them by myself hehehe  Best regards,Luis Hernández Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Still you made the bulk of the work for landuse and roads! Without any help this scenery project will have been long abandoned. Perhaps after releasing South america there will be more help, but it appears that interest in this is very low!
July 15, 201510 yr I've just uploaded the wider roads. The width of these roads, rails and rivers is 66% of what you used for Europe. The older landuse files are also uploaded, so you'll need to replace them when building the final package for South America. Let me know which one looks better. I have to work tomorrow, so I can't test until tomorrow evening. I couldn't find a way to extract powerlines, that's why there are none uploaded. July 15, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks a lot! will check them out this evening (still working on lakes...) Then I'll have to fix the landuse errors and compile the masking land-class file Possibly I'll reduce Europe's road widths after South america is out!
July 16, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member I've just uploaded the wider roads They look great!! I have also checked the status of the landuse errors: Good news! I counted no more than 5! Will take very little time to fix! Also, I only have Argentina and Uruguay to go and lakes are done! Then landclass mask, end finally pack it up!
July 18, 201510 yr Better news: I could finally extract the powerlines, I'm attaching right now the BGL file and also the Zip with all my BGLs. Just one BGL for all South American powerlines. Maybe aren't there enough ones? July 18, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Good work! THe fact that you could process roads, rivers, and powerlines in a single file for all the area speaks abut the amount of data... in Europe, dividing by country was mainly dictated by the need of splitting data in small enough chunks... South America must have less detailed data, and is less developed than Europe. We just deal with what we have!

I started fixing the landuse files. You said you updated them but the newest ones are from February 2015. There's older sources of 2014... I also could not get the Residential_small_2 to compile, maybe you edited the SCM file somewhere? I tried increasing line buffer but it failed due to another symbol overflow... do you have newer sources for these?
July 20, 201510 yr Well, I never said I updated the landuse files, just the line features (roads, rivers, rails and now powerlines). Try replacing the first line of the SCM file with this header: Set( LINBUF 2048 ) Set( BUF 16384 ) Set( AREAMX 16384 ) Set( LABELS 6000 ) That's what I have currently in my landuse files. PS: Now that I check, I remember why the Sbuilder files appear to be newer than the BGLs: it's just because in February you asked me to upload them. I didn't have the Sbuilder files then (I didn't think I'd care), so I just generated them. This week I am out in vacation in aArgentina, but I might be able to do these things! Just for curiosity: are you coming to Córdoba? There's a lot of places to visit here. July 27, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Just for curiosity: are you coming to Córdoba? There's a lot of places to visit here. I am staying in Buenos Aires with Family, it is only a week, otherwise I may have planned more moving. I have to find time and tour Suth America whenever I get more vacations from work... actually I am out during a national festivity and took a two day permit... Yes, release in 1-4 weeks for sure! What is next... about OSM nothing unless we get more collaborators, I m kind of sick of it... I am however working on a new aircraft, the Dassault Mercure 100...
