January 14, 201511 yr That doesn't seem like a viable venture, and it doesn't seem like PMDG at all. They either do it right, or don't do it at all. That's why they decided to release the 77L first, and the 77E on a later date. Name available upon request
January 14, 201511 yr The differences are so insignificant, to the majority, I can't see PMDG wasting their resources on a non-ER, -300. I mean where does it stop? ... a different version with red seats instead of blue? The point that Jim Burke made (which is correct as PMDG have said it many times) is that the majority of people who buy PMDG's products are not on AVSIM. It can be hard for us to believe, seeing as we're such a noisy, demanding section of their customers, but the fact is, most people buy and use PMDG products and aren't users of AVSIM (in fact probably aren't members of any FS site). So a vote on AVSIM that says that 60 people want a product, and 40 do not, does not equate to 60% of PMDG's whole customer base wanting the product.

January 15, 201511 yr If it only took a few months for each release, then I would be all for PMDG doing every 777 variant under the sun, but since it takes years for one airplane, variety is more important. The 747v2 will be great, the DC-6 will be great, then after that whatever. This would be like asking A2A to make an earlier Continental powered 1960s Cessna 182 after their current Lycoming powered C182T. While such an addon would be a very nice release no doubt, this would take their time away from other projects like a twin, warbird, vintage liner or whatever they have planned. Considering the time and effort each project requires, a variety in aircraft mission types is most important. It will be interesting to see what they plan next once the 747v2 and it's expansions are done, the NGX SP2 is released and the DC-6 is out the door. Maybe by then the could reach an agreement to take over the LDS 757 project and start from scratch or build us a new 767. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
January 16, 201511 yr Seems that PMDG is right. There seems to be no market demand for a -300(non-ER). Seriously, I personally trust PMDG, because I think they're rather kompetent, ambitious, enthusiastic and honest developers which one can see by their products i.e. especially the NGX and the 777. I still don't own and fly their 777. I still fly the NGX and I will fly it for years to come. But I will study the 777 manuals and learn to fly their 777 later this year. And I don't really care if there is a -300(non-ER) available or not. If I want to fly a long haul jet, non-stop from Germany to Hong Kong for an epic Kai Tak landing, the 777-300ER just makes sense to me B) Just my two cents. PS: I would prefer a new 747 instead.
January 16, 201511 yr IMO, I would rather have more engine variants for ANY plane instead of different variants. I mean, the differences between the -200 and -300 are just size. The cockpit would be almost identical and if you fly in the VC, you really wouldn't notice that you're flying a bigger aircraft (except for some slightly different handling, of course). The differences would be so minuscule that it wouldn't be worth PMDG's time. At least with different engines, you get different sounds! I would much rather have them spend time on the DC-6 and 747 v2. Philip LaBianca _____________________ "I think, therefore I am."
January 19, 201511 yr Author For those who fly for va's operating non-ER 300s this is a killer blow, because we have to sit inside a captainsim 777 eugh... Or we could do something that should not be discussed on this forum. Arnav Agarwal
January 19, 201511 yr I don't think there are many VA's out there that won't accept a -300ER as a -300, though. Name available upon request
