January 18, 201511 yr Hello everyoneFirst of all I want to thank you for reading my post. I have flown in fsx for some time now and I have some addons (aerosoft a319 and asn). My frames are mostly around 30 when I start the sim. But when I fly for 10 mins, my frames drop and fluctuate around 5-25. I know my system is not the best. (see settings below) I would be very gratefull if somebody could help me find the right settings/tweaks. I know this sounds lazy but I realy tried everything. Even the very good guide published here on these forums. I just don't know wich ones I should use and wich I should not. I will be very grateful if somebody could help me. System specs: (and yes it's a laptop but I'm only 14 and I can only buy these things with pocket money). I5-4200M Nvidia GTX760M (for some reasons this doesn't show up in fsx but iv'e forced fsx to use this one through the control pannel. Otherwise it used the intel onboard graphics.) 8GB ram Windows 8.1 Nvidia inspector (I changed 4xSGSS to 2xSGSS) January 18, 201511 yr Use Nick's guide, http://www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211&SID=422416562db7fcc913c2e74e7ae2a1654282407.html Or xxxxx's (This may be better for DX10) Your computer shouldn't be set to 2xSGSS, try 8x Super Sampling. Sparse grid will not work your computer is not fast enough Remove your fsx.cfg file and let it build a new one when you start fsx. Then follow xxxxxs guide
January 18, 201511 yr I noticed you are using dx10 and the dx10 fixer, so you need to check out the fixer manual, ver 2.6 and search for the dx10 ' How - to Guide'. In your .cfg file it shows your current gpu as the intergrated graphics, you to need to click on the drop down menue in fsx display settings and see if your new gpu is listed. Your set up will not run fsx at high settings so you nesd to back off some of the sliders and run the frame rates below 30. Hope this helps Bob
January 18, 201511 yr Author Hi, how should I set the DX10 fixer then? And Nvidia Inspector? Hope this helps Bob Hi, I reduced my sliders already but it is not much better, when I want to select my better Gpu it's not listed in fsx. I had to force fsx to use it via the nvidia control pannel. Thank you very much! Thank you very much for your help! The experience of flying, is the experience of feeling alive!

I had to force fsx to use it via the nvidia control pannel. Thank you very much! Thank you very much for your help! fsx is listing your gpu for dx10 as [DISPLAY.Device.Intel® HD Graphics 4600.0.0] AntiAlias=1 Mode=1280x720x32 Anisotropic=1 you need to find out why your computer is using this device, maybe you need to switch something in the computer BIOS, perhaps another forum member with laptop knowledge can help. Bob ps you could try listing out your gpu settings in the fsx.cfg file ie // [DISPLAY.Device.Intel® HD Graphics 4600.0.0] // AntiAlias=1 // Mode=1280x720x32 // Anisotropic=1 restart fsx to see of it finds the correct gpu sometimes changing gpu's can cause double listing of gpu's and issues.
January 18, 201511 yr Author Thank you very much Unfortunatly the "//" before the code didn't help.Do you know someone with a little laptop knowledge? And do you perhaps know how I can set 8 supersampling instead of 2xSGSS and how I have to adjust the dx10 scenery fixer and nvidia inspector and the fsx.cfg for that? Thanks in advance The experience of flying, is the experience of feeling alive!

Thanks in advance here's a link to the 'How to Guide' http://www.nzfsim.org/index.php?dsp=downloads&f_sort=fixer the dx10 fixer manual is on the fixer config program , bottom right bob ps you may need to get someone to check your BIOS settings on your lap top for you and to check your gpu drivers.
January 19, 201511 yr I have a pretty decent system I think and am wondering what the difference is between supersampling and sparse grid supersampling? Which one is better to use? Also how high on the antialiasing setting is it ok to go?
January 23, 201511 yr With that card and processor I'd forget all about antialiasing. Your system just isn't going to cut it for fsx. There's guys on here with titan blacks and overclocked i7 and they still don't get anywhere near 60fps with everything maxed out. You'll just have to come to terms with the fact that your system is a laptop with a laptop graphics card, so cut your expectations right down, tweak as much as you can and turn your sliders way down... The only other option is an upgrade. Neil Andrews. Fight or Flight - YouTube | Twitter

And fps became unstable. It fluctuated from 4-30 (YES 4). I'm ok with 18-30 fps, but I didn't like the drops. I just don't know what to do to when to get it normal again. Thanks for your reply Kind regards The experience of flying, is the experience of feeling alive!

Thanks for your reply Kind regards You can change the resolution of clouds in REX4 Texture Direct. I have found the higher quality cloud you go the more FPS suffers. So I just leave my clouds at the lowest resolution. Also you have to change the texture max load in the cfg to 4096 if you wanna see the HD clouds but just remember you're gonna see a substantial drop in FPS in heavy weather. Even my system struggles to get a CONSTANT 30fps. Sure most of the times it's right at 30 but in heavy weather I have seen it drop to 15-18 FPS. So with your system I think you unfortunately have to temper your expectations. I thought with my system I would be able to run every slider maxed out and add as many airports/addons and I would still get great FPS but it's just not the case. You have to pick and choose which settings are most important for you and what gives you the most enjoyment out of the sim. If clouds are the most important then drop some of the other sliders. Oh and I highly suggest running road traffic at 0%. Also if you wanna see a big FPS boost drop water to 2.x Low. Yes you're gonna see random scenery pops and some random lines and they will be annoying but you do get more FPS.

The clouds are only 512 by 512. I already reduce my traffic and the water and it is a little better now. (The drops I mean) if you have HT on then set your AM as follows: [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=14 I have set my AF to 4 because my cpu is dual core with hypertreading enabled, having 4 logical threads... January 23, 201511 yr Commercial Member I have set my AF to 4 because my cpu is dual core with hypertreading enabled, having 4 logical threads... That's wrong. With HT enabled you have two cores both have two LPs (logical processors). 1110binary or 14decimal means that the first core will get the main thread only, the other two threads will occupy the second core. An AM of 4decimal or 0100binary, allocates only one LP of the second core. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
