WINDOWS 10 and what it mean for us.

Lyn refers to the public beta testing where constant updating to the latest beta builds makes a lot of sense.

The same forced updates in the releases-to-market are a completely different thing, though. Have I mentioned already that I will stick to Win7 until 2020? (End of free security patches for W7)   :P

anyone waiting on skylake dont get to excited, its only 6% faster and requires ddr4, thats pretty sad, here is benchmarks,i would say this kind of ties in with windows 10 because alot of people may be waiting on skylake before they upgrade there os.the i7 6700k is on a 14 nm die, with a turbo boost of 4.2 ghz. have a look

There it is!

I (Win 7/64) have just received the download-button for Win10.

Wonder how it will work with FSX.

Kind regards,

I just got the final version of Windows 10. At first, it lagged A LOT. I couldn't even get a single FPS (Like, it was literally stuck at 0.9 FPS even with the default aircraft). I reinstalled FSX using the 'repair' option and now it crashes every time I start FSX. At least in the case of my system...

Sorry to hear.  Working super here.  Unbelievable actually.  Running FSX in a virtual desktop tonight.  Should be interesting.

That's unfortunate. I use Prepar3d 2.5 and the upgrade from Win7 to Win10 was flawless. So far, I have had absolutely no issues with compatibility with ANY of my addon software or other programs that I have installed.

I am very pleased with Windows 10. I reckon that this will become the new OS of choice for us flight simmers due to its inherent backwards compatibility and ease of use with a desktop(ability to switch from Desktop and Tablet Mode).

I agree. I am greatly enjoying it so far. Gorgeous menus and options screens as well.

Okay, I just did a FULL re-installation. The framerate issue is fixed (before updating to W10, I had about 30-40fps wih the default aircraft, now I get up to 60) but it doesn't recognise my joystick (which is an old Saitek ST90 btw), has some rendering issues on the scenery and the options bar (thats what I call the thing that comes up when I press Alt) freezes the game when I try to select something.

I assume it's a problem with the drivers but I can't find any ST90 drivers online. Any other ideas?

Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

Reading some good comments here about Win 10 upgrade.

Anybody has made the switch and using Saitek throttles, yoke or rudder?

How about Flight1 addons like the BE20?

Cheers

Regards, Perry
