Aerosoft Airbuses to get Shared Cockpit

Featured Replies

Just saw this post on another site and surprised I haven't seen it on Avsim yet considering how popular this product line is. (did a quick search)

Apparently the SP3 Updates for the Airbus 3XX line bring Online Shared Cockpit functionality under the guise of Connected Flight Deck.

I'll be interested to see how they sync the weather!

Fantastic.

I've got the A320/A321 extended and A318/319 upgrade but didn't want to pay for the upgrade of the A320/321 package again but this alone would be worth it.

It'll be interesting to see how they get on with it. Having spent some time with the Q400 Pro Beta which features shared cockpit there are some big challenges around it.

Having you both seeing the same weather is one biggie, as is stuff like GSX when you're still looking at the gate while the other guy is already on the taxiway. Scenery also is a issue - 'why are you taxying over the grass?' - when the other guy is using default scenery so the high speed exit you're using isn't modelled. Ah. Also you need to be on the same page in terms of SOP. Unlike the real one where you can see the other guy reaching for the flap lever, in the shared cockpit you'll only know about it after it's happened.

That said, the Aerosoft guys are pretty smart and I'm sure that we'll see them sort it. The Airbus has matured into a very complete add-on these days.

Isn't it the case that the copilot side isn't functional?  If so, would both pilots sharing be virtually seating on the pilot seat?

I would think its all accessible to both involved - wouldn't that defeat the purpose if it wasn't ?
