February 23, 201511 yr After reading this far into the forum, I suspect no one else is having the problem I am having with the 777 running in P3D. On my system, running the 777 in FSX I get 20fps both with both inside and outside views. Running the 777 in P3D I get 20fps with an outside view but in the virtual cockpit I get 9-10fps. I have both FSX and P3D set to display 20fps. I installed P3D using both LM's and PMDG's recommended settings. I have tried changing all of the video settings with little or no effect on the frame rates in P3D. Needless to say, 9-10fps is not satisfactory so I am doing all of my flying in FSX. The other problem I have with P3D is that all of the video seems considerably darker than it is in FSX. Messing with the brightness and contrast on the monitor doesn't seem to be the answer. Maybe it is just me, but I like the FSX display more than the P3D display because it is brighter and sharper and faster. (picky, picky) Thank you for any suggestions. Ron Oines Setting frames to unlimited have always been the way to go for me in p3d.. Mas Martin Jensen
February 23, 201511 yr I agree, Martin. I have only just changed the setting in P3D from "Limited @ 25fps" to "Unlimited", and there has been a massive increase in framerate (around 50%) at those times when the true framerate has dropped below the 25fps cap. That is impossible to ignore. There may have been one or two extra stutters now and again in high density scenery areas (the jury is still out on this one until I have done a lot more testing), but any reduction in smoothness has been nothing to worry about when compared to the significant gains in performance. Exactly my experience as well - ultra few stutters - maybe a handful through out an entire flight, but massive improvement in smoothness and frames... Martin Jensen

February 23, 201511 yr If that's the case, I wish the normal lighting was as dark as that in HDR mode. I hate the brightness in the middle of the day, because it illuminates the texture and colour saturation flaws in parts of my UK photoscenery. This is why I prefer to fly near dawn and dusk, because the landscape colours are more subtle, and those flaws are hidden to a greater extent. It looks so much better at those times of the day! I wish I could stop the light from getting any brighter than it is when the Sun is low on the horizon. Please don't mention the "Day_Threshold=" statement, because it doesn't work in P3D on my PC. February 23, 201511 yr FlightBeam IAD. Nothing at RDU. Nothing at DCA, but my density is pretty high and DC has a bunch of autogen objects. I'm also running orbx FTX-G and Vector. Hi Kyle I think I remembered you using Utx as well?...or was it just for Fsx? anyways can you help with this please?....the reason being I'm ready to install P3d but still deciding which route...Ftx Global with Utx or Vector. thanks.

February 24, 201511 yr That's one I haven't heard in a while. Pretty sure I have Top Gun on Betamax in a box somewhere. I also found my old The Wall LP when moving stuff around the other day.
