June 11, 200520 yr Is the opinion of everyone that the 'ballooning' effect when selecting full flaps is not modelled correctly like the real one? it's just that every time i have to force the yoke forward to stop altitude gain ! so is there a fix to it and has anyone had a reply from Carenado?
June 11, 200520 yr Well, I just bought and downloaded it, and I must say, I'm very impressed. I like Carenado's T-34 Mentor, and this 182RG is even better. I hear what you're talking about with the looping in the sound, but overall I really do like the engine sound...it's got a much less "buzzy" sound to it than the default 182, and sounds a lot like planes I hear going overhead all the time. The VC is indeed impressive, with good refresh rates. I also like the "mix-and-match" cockpit, with the different radios and old-school autopilot.Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
June 12, 200520 yr Has anyone figured out how to do a Mag check on this aircraft. When I can see the tach, I can't see the ignition switch?
June 12, 200520 yr Hi Bob,If using the 2d panel first select the IFR view, then bring up the engine sub-panel and you can mouse click the mag switch or use the key commands. If in the VC you can look over at the tach and use the key commands (m -, m +, m - -, m + +) for the mags or in my case I set up my CH throttle quadrant for some of the switches to handle these (think the button assignments are through FSUIPC though).Zane Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
June 12, 200520 yr rpm go down and stay there with one mag off, so i guess you could look a bit here then a bit there... :-)

Thanks muchly..... :)
June 13, 200520 yr I have flown this airplane for hours this weekend. With the exception of the takeoff engine looping sound, this plane is fantastic. Flys like a real Cessna........ :)
June 14, 200520 yr Well I take my earlier opinion back. I was mostly flying from point to point, and didn't noticed until I started doing some touch and goes and pattern work, that this flight model has big problems. The plane does not want to come down. Thirty degrees of flaps, gear down, power almost at idle and you can maintain level flight... I know of no Cessna that will do that, even a 152. In order to get this aircraft to descend you have to point the nose down at this ridiculous angle which in real life could result in a "wheelbarrow" landing and destroying the nose gear, prop, engine, and firewall which is megabucks damage to the aircraft. Try this for yourself, set the flaps at 30 degrees, gear down, and applying just a tad of power, and you will see that you can maintain level flight for miles. You can also take off with 30 degress of flaps, leave gear down, trim fpr 65 knots and climb at 1,700+ feet per minute. Are they kidding, a real 182RG pilot beta tested this flight model, ?? Don't think so.

June 14, 200520 yr Well according to a quote from the designer of this aircraft, they mixed some STOL files that will be used in a STOL version of the 182 , with the release of the standard C-182RG and that is the reason for the bizarre flight characteristics. They will release a patch shortly, to fix the problem. I hope the fix the sound also.

I simply can't duplicate it, and will not go on record as experiencing these bizarre flight characteristics. I'd like to see who else does.L.Adamson

When you select Flaps/... you have to make an effort to push the yoke down in real.think about it.. By getting the flaps out...you have made the surface of the wing larger, producing more lift. So it tends to baloon..... but then it will increase the drag as well and the speed would rapidly detoriate. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
