Thanks Gerard but you are missing a few things.First FE does not have a weather engine and second ASV does not have water base set options and reflection options.Certainly if you have one then getting the othe will definitely bring something extra and as you say both clouds are works of art which Chris and I thank you for.If you have one painting or a work of art is having a second less exciting or more exciting?More options and more choices Gerard and two very differnet packages that both serve to enchance the total look and experience of using FS9Peter

LeoYour complaining of 5/kb per sec I get 2.6 /kb per sec :-(What problems did you have with the download as using DAP resumable download utility which is a must for my snail speed, I get "resumable downloads not supported" message.Inevitably if I attempt an unresumable download the link drops after about a third of the download and its back to square one :-(Peter

>I think that is fair, and I don't see why Damian wouldn't>honor that type of request. He is a extreamly fair and moral>person.>>Barry>Fairness and Morality do not factor here. You would have a point if the gentleman some how paid the extra dollars outside for a stated policy.Interesting that you would use these words (fair and moral) to sway Damian into making a refund :-(Vern

I hate it when you make me want both like that :-hah. Hmmm, what to do, what to do .....Gary

>Good point. I think that Active Sky is a quality product. >But business is business I guess.>>Damain is a person of integrity. He will do the right thing!>>Barry>This is not an issue of integrity. If Damain decides to modify his policy. It simply will be a business decision. Not because his integrity is on the line. With that said .... i do believe that good customer relations is paramount. And customers are typically accustom to being able to have price protection for 30days. I believe that these guys should also be able to upgrade at a reduced fee.Vern

Leo,I did encounter a severe downdraft just before landing yesterday. No real microburst, but a big challenge anyway.Best regards,Henri

Taking a look at this Thread I got extremely interested in purchasing this product. Personally i hardly buy Payware addons Ive only purchaced Ultimate traffic and Eric Marciano's A340 panel in all my simming experience (since version 3.0 for DOS waaay back) and mostly download and support Quality Freeware Authors.. Posky/ IFDG / SGA/ Eric Cantu/Chris Willis and the like. Usually if a freeware Author has done his due to the community for a couple of years and switches to payware i would have no hesitation to support them (As i will be supporting Shervin from POSKY when his Airbuses are finished). This release had me really thinking hard about whipping out my Credit card.. Until i saw the Side show regarding the person who bought 4.5 days before the release of version 5While the product may be excellent i find that some of the responses on this thread especially from some of the development team/beta personel is a bit inflexible and harsh. Business is business everyone says but the good business also have and practice good business ethics to keep their loyal and "FUTURE" customers happy. On self contemplation: Is it ethical business practice to not allow some sort of compromise for a person who purchased a product only to have a new version released a few days later?I am aware of the concept of buyer beware but i in situations like this i would think the developer would do something to satisfy his paying customer.I myself is very interested to see how this is resolved as i am also very interested in purchacing this product myself. Love the looks of the product but i find the integrity and ethics of the People who create the product substantially important in my considerations as well. No Need for flaming retorts this is just my humble opinionMaxis

And Integrity is a firm adherence to a code.....especially moral code (i.e. Incorruptibilty)These guys are not even close to treading on being unethical or showing lack of integrity. These choice of words, by many are harsh and unfair ... and do not help the FS community. In fact, to accuse unfairly or unjustly is ironic to turnaround and call into question these guys ethics and integrity. At best, the issue we are dealing with here is the merits of ASV establishing a 30day price protection clause in its standard conditions of sale .. not unethical or lack of integrityFor the record, I believe that it would not be a bad choice to establish a price protection clause. :-)Vern

Greetings all,Thanks for all your feedback...It is unfortunate that a few customers who just decided to buy AS were not aware of the new version in development. Information has been posted on our website about it's development and pending release for quite some time. We've sent numerous press releases and of course it is all over many forums. It may be hard to believe, but we really did make a strong effort to keep everyone notified of what we are up to at all times. For 3 years now we've been doing the exact same thing, ALWAYS working on a new version. We've even already started on technology for the next version beyond ASV! At some point the customer has to make some kind of effort to investigate, or am I wrong in that assumption? As mentioned we can't just stop sales of our only product which is at times (especially before new version release) just barely covering our server costs. Besides there are several users who learn about ASV, then AS2004.5, and can't wait, they want AS technology right away and without the existing product available they would have no way to get it. We never know exactly when we are going to release a new version (until it is ready), so this adds another element to the problem. As to offering a price protection policy, I would be more than happy to do that if we had the capability! As it stands there is no facility to have our system check your purchase date from another e-commerce vendor (simmarket) for a different product, then have it issue you an invoice/order/download link for ASV with no payment associated. In the mean time, I would like to ask anyone who has purchased AS2004.5 very recently (the past 30 days), who feels misled, to please e-mail me @ [email protected] with your AS2004.5 purchase receipt and a note explaining your situation. If possible please explain why you feel you were misled and what might be able to be done about it to prevent this kind of thing in the future. You understanding and help is much appreciated. Thanks everyone..

Like I have stated before, Damain is a person of integrity and is doing the right thing by at least addressing this issue on a case by case basis.Damian, a suggestion would be to just create a one use only / customized coupon for those cases in which you feel warrant to just pay just the difference in price to acquire ASV.Also, I would make it a part of your EULA and bold the fact that it is for this version only, even if a new version comes out next week. Please check our website frequently. If there is a new version next week, you will only be able to purchase the upgrade if available. Awesome, Damain. By doing this, more than likely you will sell more ASV, including upgrades. Thanks again for your integrity!Barry

>ActiveSky has been a good product and they have great customer>support, but I think $28 is a lot to charge existing customers>to upgrade. I think I will wait to hear user feedback.>>DaleA Men to that. $28 dollars for previous users? Probably pass on this one. Yikes!!!!

>Hey>>Thats a great letter. OK Im the idiot Im the fool. After all>its just 27.00 more dollars. Heck I spent 35.00 this afternoon>on a new cooler.>>If I wanna play I gotta pay>>Regards your loyal customer>Dennis Waggoner LOL. I just spent $200 dollars for 2.0 hours in a Seminole, 1.8 of which was Actual Instrument heh.

I'm sorry for the people who have issues with this release due to pricing and what not, I can see your points on both sides really. For me, this is my first time buying any AS product and I'm completely blown away. Just tried a landing in a thunderstorm over Zurich, (after a rather pleasant flight across Italy - Citation X), and with the drafts and such I was a complete mess. Had to turn the AI off to get the ATC to pay attention to me and I still ended up a lawn dart. Been awhile since this flight sim gave me that much of a rush.Worth every penny for an Active Sky newbie for sure. Now I only wish that every pro airport I want didn't cost 25USD a pop. :(
