March 14, 201511 yr Confirmed. I made the same adjustments to my Cloud.fx as Mike and the thunderstorm west of Fort Worth actually became a thunderstorm to be reckoned with. Did a hard right turn to get away from it as it started shaking my F22. The point is... my softclouds look amazing again. This is with 8 layers of clouds active. I don't use SGSS at all or any MSAA either. My shader software handles all of it thus my FPS doesn't get mangled with a lot of clouds on screen anymore with SGSS active. I saw little to no FPS drop going from 0.5 to 0.7. Thanks for reminding me about that cloud.fx setting Mike. It really is interfering with REX's cloud textures. It is shrinking them to much. They both ate good - I find better fps with Opusfsi - you would need to make the choice but I can tell you there is an Opusfsi demo so why dont you try that - you can have ASN and Opusfsi loaded at the same time try each one with the same with the same scenerio and make your choice Rich Sennett

I was getting similar weather patterns too with distant clouds turning into little cotton balls. I knew that wasn't right. Changing the size slightly in the shader seemed to fix it for me. I can only say that from .5 to .7 in my Thunderstorm test, it made a huuuuge difference in visual quality with no noticeable impact, and I fly with 8 layers of clouds on most of the time. March 15, 201511 yr I hope LM will improve this because beside all the visual enhancement like volumetric fog and shadows, cloud depiction is a step backwards compared to FSX. Especially in combination with ASN which still uses too much cumulus for overcast conditions. March 15, 201511 yr Late thanks for advanced Weather location. Lots of trial but success depends upon the acceptance levels of the Customer. .07 HLSL shader change just seems to mask the real problem. The basic "popcorn" clouds appear to be a base that gets stretched and colored in an attempt to depict various kinds of clouds. Soft clouds blur the clouds enough so that various settings reduce the appearance of fair weather popcorn, but do not solve it. regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
