Favorite military plane to fly?

Featured Replies

I was just curious what military plane does everyone like to fly in FS2004?For me it is the P-3 Orion made by Team FS KBT. I hardly ever flew military planes before, but since this plane came out I have been flying it a lot!

My favorite is my Captain Sim E-3 with USAF repaints. Other than that, I haven't come across any good military aircraft except for cloud 9's stuff and CS other military planes, I know CS had some modern fighters that they announced last year along with a B-52, but I don't see those coming anytime this decade as a lot of people are still anxiously awaiting their C-130.Jeff

It's a four-way tie for me:MAAM's B-25MAAM's C-47RealAir's SpitfireProject Sierra Hotel's T-37Best,Ken

aerialfoundrys F18's are very nice, the best F18s I've seen and they fly great!

**'s Mustang and Fortress.

very fast, no hit really at all, I highly recomend them!

I don't fly a lot of military hardware, but here's my short list:- Project SH T-37 Tweet (http://www.t37sim.com/) The documentation on this a/c is awesome, not to mention the jet itself. It's a unique contribution to the FS9 experience, given that it's intended as a familiarization trainer for would-be US Air Force pilot candidates (although I don't think they fly the Tweet anymore).- Aerosoft Seahawk helicopter (http://aerosoft-shop.com/product_info.php?products_id=86) Fans of external model detailing will appreciate this (e.g. the rotors fold for shipboard storage) but my favorite part is the panel, and it also has a serviceable autopilot (non-trivial for FS9 helicopters)Of course I fly both of these aircraft strictly for humanitarian missions 8^) .Dave Blevins

I love Dave Eckert's B-26 Marauder "Hitch Hiker".Rick Piper's Jet Provost and DeHavilland Chipmunk are great trainers and loads of fun.For something more modern, Kirk Olson's Viper rocks. All the above are freeware and I thank them all.

Im still hunting around for two of my favourite military planes: the Saab JAS39 Gripen & C-17 Globemaster...so far no luck!:(

The best plane for me is the F104 (Starfighter) by Cloud9 (www.cloud9.com). Great realistic handling and a fantastic learning experience. It also helps that is saw these babies protecting the skies during my childhood. A unique aircraft for which I have a softspot.

My all time favorite is the Grumman F-14B Tomcat made by Jeff Dobbing, Dino Cattaneo and Nevo Klibanksi. It's a bit complicated to install, because there are multiple updates to the aircraft to make it the ultimate freeware fighterplane (great visuals, but still very fps-friendly).It flies extremely well, reacts agile, but still you can feel the heaviness of this fighter during the whole flight envelope and especially on approaches. The engines are very powerful and sound great with the sound file made by Christoffer Petersen (F-14 GE-F110-GE-400 " the real deal "). I never flew fighterjets in real life , but the airfile feels very realistic to me. On top of the great feel of this a/c it also capable of simulating carrier landings. It comes with a basic VC and a little more advanced cockpit (allthought not all gauges are costum made). You shouldn't miss this one!All files you'll need are right here at the avsim library. Here's a short list of what you'll need:Base package (Grumman F-14B Tomcat): f14bfs9a.zip by Jeff Dobbing,Dino Cattaneo,Nevo KlibanskiF-14D Panel with integrated Aircraft Carrier catapult and Arresting gear gauges:f14car04.zipby Todd McKeeEnhanced aircraft textures:f14-201-hr.zipf14-213.zipby Heather ShermanSound File:f-14_ge-f110-ge-400_the_real_deal.zipby Christoffer PetersenEffects Update (great fluid effects and afterburners):f14bfs9z.zipby Dean Mountfordhave fun!cheers,Claudio
