April 6, 201511 yr I am sorry but I am not opening my firewall for any of you simmers. You have already done so by just posting here  André
April 6, 201511 yr You have already done so by just posting here  What are you talking about? There is huge difference between allowing a outbound connection and allowing an inbound connection. There is no way in hell I am going to host a game and forward port to my PC. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.

April 6, 201511 yr If you can read my post, you must have allowed an inbound connection. geez. you guys really need to learn about how the TCP protocol works. In Share cockpit, someone is going to need to be the host. That means that person will have to allow inbound connections. When I go on the web, you make an TCP connection and your firewall allows an TCP reply. This is not the same as initiating a 3 way handshake from an external IP. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.
April 6, 201511 yr Claude, don't be too worried about this. You open one port for sending and one port for receiving. Anyone who's every hosted an FPS 'server' from their computer has done this. Same with hosting a teamspeak server or whatever. A Firewall is like an Anti-virus and the best Anti-virus is between your monitor and your chair. Neil Andrews. Fight or Flight - YouTube | Twitter
April 6, 201511 yr Commercial Member My friends, There is a lot of wrong information already posted in this forum, but I know that it comes from a desire to help. Please, for the sake of this incredible genre of flight simulation, let's refrain from the back and forth until I publish the guide - which will set the record straight. I promise you, 8+ years and 4000+ hours in shared cockpit alone (in high end addons) and a technical background in computer networking, and I'll work hard to answer all questions and show you how to do this. I've got to get some work done as this was rushed upon me, and I don't want to have to break from that to correct misinformation. Thanks so much for your help and understanding. April 6, 201511 yr Dave, no offence mate but nobody's forcing you to read the thread. We're just discussing the recent developments. For the end user, it's nothing more than Port Forwarding and people shouldn't get upset. Neil Andrews. Fight or Flight - YouTube | Twitter
April 6, 201511 yr I'd buy this for shared cockpit. (Don't have the a320) "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
April 6, 201511 yr Will this be available for the Extended version or will I have to pay the 13 bucks to get the newest update? Philip LaBianca _____________________ "I think, therefore I am."
April 6, 201511 yr Author Will this be available for the Extended version or will I have to pay the 13 bucks to get the newest update? Extended is not covered you will have to have the latest and greatest and why would you not its way better especially the lighting system Rich Sennett
April 6, 201511 yr Extended is not covered you will have to have the latest and greatest and why would you not its way better especially the lighting system Yeah. I've been putting it off to buy more things for P3D Philip LaBianca _____________________ "I think, therefore I am."

Well I think you should go back to the drawing board ;-) I have a bit of understanding how it works lol I'm not going to discuss here the ins and outs, but you are just overreacting without knowing all the technical details... It depends how it's all set-up, but to put it simple every connection you make outside your own device makes you vulnerable ;-) Just wait and see what they present as final product and then judge based on that information. A bit of understanding ? You have no understanding of how the TCP/IP protocol works. So stop pretending you do. Modern firewall use SPI and going outbound of the web does not make you vulnerable unless someone exploit a security flaws in your browser. The connection itself is not a risk. This is not the same for any application where someone has to be a HOST and someone has to be a slave. The host will have to enable port forwarding. Any port your "open" is a much higher vulnerability than just browsing the web because it's always open. I don't think Aerosoft is ready to host dedicated server to go around this needs. So it will be up to the community using peer to peer connection to do this. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.
April 7, 201511 yr Commercial Member Dave any suggestions on what those of us should do to stay secure who are operating on USB cellphone modems and thus require VPNs like Wippien due to the lack of the necessary firmware?
