Hooked

Really fast.

Ha ha ha ha !   Took me a while to get that one!    (as an Irishman)

By the end of the sale i'll probably pick up one your favorites Alan,  the spitfire, very nice little plane.  The VC is so well done,  darn overheating thing will take some mastering though

Read Dudley's and Mitchell's flying notes and you'll be fine.  Power back after takeoff, radiator to normal, don't climb too steeply, not too much (if any) power on final (make your turn to final at pattern altitude, then power back and nose down) and she'll stay cool.  I think overheating has been toned down a little over the course of the updates.  Still a problem but not an everyday event.

Love having to think about this stuff.

I was wrestling again with the Mustang yesterday - love what it can do, don't always like the stress of making it do stuff.  Back to the Spit shortly...

LOL Elaine you might as well get the P-40 too.  If you ever saw Stephen Spieldburgs 1941, you will realize why Cpt Wild Bill Kelso could only be in a P-40.  Wild Bill's P-40 is sort of like the Blues Mobile in the Bluesbrothers...both built for the great John Belushi LOL.    If there ever was a bush plane fighter, it would be the P-40.  It has the ruggedness of the P-47, yet small enough to comfortably land at typical small GA airports.  The Allison V-1710 has a beautiful sound too, a deeper 'throaty' sound, compared to the Merlin.  The P-40 is ideal for low altitude scenery touring.

The Spitfire is awesome too, tho it is best flown in the cooler mid-upper altitudes.  Think of the Spitfire like a vintage Jaguar E Type....beautiful, fast, and tempermental.  Think of the Mustang like a Ford Mustang...powerful, fast, with some practical uses.  Think of the P-40 like a rugged old Jeep.    Each one is a unique experience.

Cheers

TJ

Thank you Alan and TJ,
I'm so confused right now, more so then normal, my small head is overheating.  I'm giving myself one more buy and have been mulling over the Spitfire and P40,  i have no problem buying them all but that really takes the good out of the hunt and i'm determined to pick one.  Do love the idea of the temperamental Spitfire + gorgeous Vc, but truth be know i really can't get away from the Sharks Teeth,  also as you say Tj the P40 has that rather rough jeepy thing going on which is very authentic in its own way

*runs gets green tea, sits in dark room and meditates*

Im going to buy them both without the Accusim and then what ever one i like more,  ill buy the Accusim package for that one,  i have such a a big brain.

No actually i'm going for the P40 + Accusim.   Ok stick a fork in me i'm done,  P40 it is.

And ill get the Spitfire tomorrow   :Big Grin:

As i already have the Civilian Mustang with the Acusim package i was able to pick up the Military Mustang for 11 Euro, great stuff indeed.    I was trying to decide now on either Spitfire, P40 or the B17 but after watching this video Again,  it was deffo the B17 with Acusim pack.

So the Mil Mustang and the B17 for today's sale and hopefully a liccle sale in June will wipe out the rest.  Very happy.  When i familiarize myself with my new toy i will be posting some Screenshots in what is now my world famous Screen shot threads

Elaine, how on earth did you get the B-17 to show up in P3D? I've used the latest EMT and yet, after purchasing from simMarket last night, I do not see the B-17 in Vehicles, in P3D. Any help would be most welcome. Thanks.

When you click into Vehicles, are saying its not in there at all?  Or B17 wont come up on the Search?   Search for boeing in the Search box.

Hi Elaine. A pleasant Sunday morning to you. Seems you beat me to the punch as I was about to delete my previous post. I was looking for it under A2A. Then it dawned on me to look under Boeing, and lo and behold, it was there. Just taken off from default airport, and paused to get this in.

Thanks, as usual, for your help. Now to explore this A2A offering!!

First and foremost, no migration tool is needed to install the earlier A2A aircraft into P3D2.5. I have the P47, P51, Cub,and B17 successfully installed in P3D.. Simple drop a copy of the FSX.exe into the main P3D folder, or if no FSX.exe, copy, paste and rename the P3D.exe to FSX.exe. During installation you are asked to direct the A2A installer to the correct directory. The installer will first try to install into the FSX folder but you are given an option to direct it to the folder of your choice - this being P3DV2.5.

Be sure to run the latest A2A updater and tell it to install into the P3D folder. http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=41279

It works flawlessly on my system.

Lyn

Just to add that this method will not work if A2A has a native P3D aircraft version  -- C172, C182 and the Cherokee. The updater knows that it is a non-native P3D install and will not update.

(All of the above A2A aircraft I mentioned in the original post are AccuSimmed also.)

Maybe that works for you Lyn,  but not everybody can find there way that easy around different settings and folders.   The EMT Migration Tool is only 11 Euros,  so for a lot of folk it makes sense

Thanks, Lynn, and Elaine does have a valid point too.

I have flushed my system clean of FSX-MS/FSX-SE, but nevertheless, your tip is useful. Thanks.

Elaine, does your B-17 have the Accusim pack? And what exactly would I be missing if I do not have it?

Posted

Vc10man, I know your question was directed at Poppet, but you ask what will you be missing if you don't have the Accusim pack? If I may answer, I would say that you'll be missing just about everything that makes the airplane so special. Without the ability to use this airplane in a combat role in FSX, your ability to manage the engines, or have the copilot do most of the work, and have that be meaningful, is the primary point of interest (imho) of such an airplane. You have a radial piston airplane and the whole meat of a radial airplane is the engines and the turbo superchargers. Without the accompanying Accusim module, those engine aspects don't take on their proper importance in the operation of the aircraft. This plane has a good multicrew aspect that was well done for the time, and I don't know if you get the crew stuff without Accusim (I never used the plane without Accusim) but I don't think so.

Yeah what King said, you miss the real 'meat' of the airplane without accusim.  For those looking forward to the PMDG DC-6, this B-17 is an excellent experience builder in operating large multi engine radials.

Cheers

@KingGhidorah & TJ, thanks for that valuable input re:Accu-Sim. I still have time to pick it today from simMarket. I'll take on board your comments. I just need to figure out if the pocket can take another pasting having made purchases galore.
