June 10, 20169 yr Author I know this is an absurd request, but is there any chance you can just upload the Philippine terrain mesh? Being a Philippine resident myself, we have pretty slow internet, sitting at a promised 3 Mbps, which is around 375 KBps, but in actuality, just around 220 KBps. On top of that, my ISP has a daily data cap of 2 GB (which is blatant false advertising of their "unlimited internet") before they begin slowing it down to baby crawls. ...So if I were to download the Asia pack, which is sitting at 13.3 GB, it would take me around 6 days and a few hours to download it. Again, I know it's an absurd request, but if you do hear me out, I'd appreciate it a lot, if not, that's also OK  Best regards, Kensta Hi Kensta, I understand. So I picked the tiles that cover the Philippines and uploaded them into a smaller archive. Some other places, like Borneo are also covered due to the tile extents, so you get a little more than the Phillipines. https://www.mediafire.com/?xsrb1m3htv7cjwh (539 MB) Feel free to share this with other Filipino. users. I can't support this unofficial release unfortunately, but it does contain the most updated data. @Sethos1988 big thanks. yeah i'm very happy now. with a bit Shader tweaking (PTA Tool) and my custom Reshade Preset it looks now really great. June 11, 20169 yr This is so frustrating! I'm sorry to say that the MediaFire download options are a total joke. Maybe it is my location at the back end of nowhere. Getting download speeds of under 80kbs on my reliable and stable 1MB ADSL line. A 4GB download is projected to take 24 hours! And, it will probably be corrupt. Tested my line and it is easily hitting the 1MB limit so it is MediaFire. Given that I am on a capped line, going to have to pay for more bandwidth. This means FreeMesh is not exactly free for me. What torrent software are you guys using? I think that this is a hugely dodgy option?? Bitdefender had a hissy fit just Googling it. Had a look at a few. It seems that one has to purchase an annual licence for a "premium version" that includes antivirus and malware protection. I must pay this for something I very much doubt I will ever use again. Again, this means that FreeMesh is quite costly to me. The free version does not offer AV and Malware protection and you must also put up with ads. May or may not be an issue as I run Bitdefender and Malwarebytes Premium on my PC but what if one or more of the people sharing their files has a virus on their PC? I am inviting the files onto my PC so AV might just ignore malicious code in that case. I have been able to download most areas directly but Africa just will not download beyond around 56kbs. The one time I did complete the download, it was corrupt! From the regions I have been able to download, such as Europe and Aussie, it really is good but as I fly a lot in Africa, this is the one I really want. Hi Greg, I'm sorry the MediaFire direct downloads are going quick enough for you. As for now, MediaFire is the only affordable option I have for direct downloads and it usually gives me reliable speeds of 3-4 MB/s. Just now 10 GB would take less than 45 minutes. I don't quite understand what you mean by the Bit torrent option being dodgy? It's a free, open-sourced standard of moving large filesets. In the case of FreeMeshX, it's probably the best method for moving this large dataset around. Perhaps you mean some of the Bit torrent client softwares out there are dodgy. Yes, there are some pretty shade clients out there. Just like some people make shady media players, antiviruses, games, etc., you do have to be careful when picking a torrent client. You certainly should not have to purchase any Bit torrent client or deal with any advertisements. Anybody that sells one or spams ads is certainly doing something dodgy, so stay away from those. Personally, I use Tixati. It's freeware and trustworthy. Another good one is Deluge. It's freeware and open source. No advertisements. No malware. Perfectly clean sets of free software. http://deluge-torrent.org/ https://www.tixati.com/ I hope this helps in any way. Sorry about the frustration its causing you. Daniel Moser
June 12, 20169 yr Can also highly recommend qBittorent. June 12, 20169 yr Hi Daniel, Thanks a million, I will give Tixati a try then. I also read a lot of negative opinion on the web about uTorrent. Using an option that you guys are using does give me way more confidence as it seems to be a mine field out there for someone that has no idea about 'torrents'. :-) Thanks too for the other recommendations here,ewi65 and Sethos1988. Thanks again for your help - and the excellent mesh, much appreciated. June 17, 20169 yr Hey Daniel, just to let you know I got sorted with Africa using Tixati. Thanks for suggesting it, was quick and simple to install and get it working without reading a huge user manual first. First time I have used a torrent. Download started out pretty slow but picked up speed nicely for a while to around 1MB/s before slowing down to 500kbs average. So took about 3.5 hours. Looking forward to exploring Africa this weekend. Thank you very much! June 18, 20169 yr I have recently rebuilt my PC and now have a couple of SSD's, one of which is devoted to P3D, in addition to my original mechanical drive. For storage reasons I would much prefer to have the mesh on the mechanical drive rather than the SSD. Is that likely to adversely affect the performance of the sim or would I be best having it on the SSD alongside P3D? Many thanks. Cheers, Geoffrey Easton
June 18, 20169 yr For what it's worth, I have have a SSD dedicated to P3D and an HDD also. Installed FreeMeshX in a separate folder on the same SSD as P3D, outside the Lockheed Martin Folder. If you have the space on the SSD this is probably the better option as these are some VERY LARGE files, and an SSD will access and read them way faster the your HDD. However, it will be easy to try both options as it is simply a stand alone folder and you just need to direct the sim to the option you want to use in the Scenery Library. If you do install to your HDD, make sure your Windows power options are set to never turn the hard disks off. If you don't do this and the HDD goes to sleep due inactivity, it will create problems when it is suddenly called on by the sim to load up files. June 18, 20169 yr Many thanks, Greg. I do already have the power options sorted. I thought the same as you, after posting, that the way the mesh is stored it would be quite simple to try both options. So once everything is downloaded again I will do that and see what works best. Cheers, Geoffrey Easton
