Martyn,

This is something I always had intended to do, but never got around to doing it. This will help a lot of others!

Would you mind if I post this as a sticky in the support forum?

Daniel,

Is there any way to move this thread down to FreeMesh Support forum?

It just seems that it would fit better there.

Wilhelm,

Until I saw your post above I didn't realise there was a FreeMesh X support forum - it's so far down the Avsim forum list, I don't think I ever scrolled that far down! With this thread being 30+ pages long I had guessed most support queries were in here!

Of course, feel free. I'm glad to help!

I am happy to send you the original file in .ODS format if it would be use for future. It also wouldn't be much work to finish it off with the Americas in the coming days. The download of those regions is no real hassle as I have a fast connection.

The rest is pretty easy. Antarctica is self-explanatory. South and Central America = Americas that are south of 30 deg N. North America is Canada and Greenland.....N of 50 deg N.

If you could do that, that would be so fantastic.

I am a new user and I have installed all the files (apart from Antarctica) including the 'Patches' folder, which is above all the others. I have placed them below ORBX entries but above the standard ones as per recommendations.

I admit that I'm not that sure what the patches folder does. I followed the instructions to the letter but I'm not sure if I have to copy the contents of the Patches subfolders into the scenery folders. The instructions state that for new users don't do it, so I didn't.

Now every time I launch P3d 3.1 I have an error saying:

SCENERY.CFG error.

Could not find scenery Area.131's local scenery directory: H:\FreeMesh\Patches\SCENERY

I am then asked if I wish to unload it.

I am puzzled as there is no scenery folder in the patches folder, just area sub folders.

I've clearly misinterpreted something incorrectly.

Any ideas?

Hi Richard,

It's an easy mistake to make. In the scenery library, you want to point to H:\FreeMesh\Patches, and not to H:\FreeMesh\Patches\SCENERY.

In the former case, the sim then correctly reads into H:\FreeMesh\Patches\Scenery while in the latter case, it will look for a non-existing H:\FreeMesh\Patches\SCENERY\SCENERY.

Patch 1.06

Thanks for seeding! The launch of 1.05 was a tremendous success because you. Over 200 TB of bandwidth was saved through seeding.

This patch fixes several remote areas in South America, but also fixes artifacts in the Alps that were mistakenly introduced in patch 1.05. Some small miscellaneous fixes are also included for Florida and Vietnam.

Patch Description

Remote areas of Patagonia and Amazonia Profunda needed some major corrections. That is the bulk of this patch. In patch 1.05, when I recompiled the area of N 40 deg E 010 deg, I forgot to include some corrected data, so the previous patch actually introduced some artifacts, especially near Innsbruck, Austria. This area is now fixed in patch 1.06. In addition, a water bug was smoothed out near KFLL, and a spike was removed near Hi Van Pass near Da Nang, Vietnam.

This patch is non-cumulative. I recommend you install the cumulative patch 1.05 before you install 1.06. Many fixes and upgrades are included in 1.05.

Installation

Here is your installation guide for patch 1.06:

  1. Drag and drop the scenery folder from each FreeMeshX region folder from the 1.05 patch into your corresponding installed region folder. Overwrite all files. Do the same for the FreeMeshX - Patches folder.
  2. You're done. That was easy.

If you're a new user, make sure you add scenery entries to your scenery library. See http://ninetwopro.com/freemeshx/fmx-installation/ for a pictorial guide on that process.

Hypothetical relative scenery library order:

  1. FreeMeshX - Patches
  2. FreeMeshX - Africa
  3. FreeMeshX - Antarctica
  4. FreeMeshX - Asia
  5. FreeMeshX - Australia and Oceania
  6. FreeMeshX - Europe
  7. FreeMeshX - North America
  8. FreeMeshX - South and Central America

Of course, your real load order will be different, but you must keep the FreeMeshX - Patches library entry above the FreeMeshX regions.

I've been frequently asked on where to add these in the scenery library. The answer is: It's up to you. I would keep them before any ORBX regions and after your stock scenery. That's about all the advice we can give you since everyone's library is so different.

Download (885 MB)

Both BitTorrent or MediaFire download is supported. If there is active seeding by numerous seeders, the BitTorrent option is often faster, and the file integrity checks are exceptional. However, MediaFire serves great download speeds, especially if a download manager is used, which we highly recommend in order to avoid corrupted downloads and for pause/resume functionality.

Hi,

Thanks a million.

For new users a link in the 1.06 post to 1.05 (latest complete patch) would be of great help. :-)

Cheers

The only issue I have with amazing FreeMesh is rivers that are not flat in most cases. I suspect clashing with FTX Vector, but in the other hand I'm sure that rivers were flat when I used FS Genesis. Any solutions?

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

Hi Pelle, this is something I've noticed with FTX Vectors and I'm not sure why it does it. It seems to be independent of FreeMeshX.
