OOM workaround for FlyTampa's Copenhagen

Happy to hear you found the culprit Rob but find it strange why I don't have this issue with the same scenery even with this file enabled.

Same here. Maybe it's because I'm with LOD 4.5 and 1024 textures

What was your starting FREE VAS when you departed from RWY 12 in the PMDG 737 with ASN (save weather file)?

I've was able to replicate this scenario on my other test PC with 2.5 12945 with only FT Copenhagen and PMDG 737 add-ons installed ... that was the first thing I did to replicate before I started in on trying resolve the issue on my main flight PC.

Cheers, Rob.

Would be interested to know what your starting VAS was on departure from RWY-12 in the PMDG 737?  Even with 1.5GB VAS free I encountered this issue using a variety of de-tuned graphics settings.

Cheers, Rob.

I'll try this tomorrow and let you know but what about the weather, is there a wx save file I should use somewhere? Haven't read through the whole thread.

Currently NO. If we get some diagnostic tools (other than remove BGLs one at a time and repeat until solved), then we stand a better chance at identification.

In the case of A to B flights there will be 1000's of BGLs being read from disk and loaded into memory during that flight ... as we can see, it only takes 1 small BGL to cause memory issues (and that's ignoring all the other possible memory issues from various 3rd party products that have nothing to do with BGLs).

I'm not saying this is the case, but for example suppose the wind data is far more dense (as in much more of it) at lower altitudes than it is at higher altitudes ... there is a possible source of VAS consumption. Or what if your AI traffic product filters out aircraft within certain altitude range and when you get lower more AI aircraft get loaded including ground aircraft (not airborne) - more VAS is used. What if some of your AI aircraft are actually pointing to a real flyable aircraft which could be a huge consumer of VAS if you assign flyable aircraft to AI aircraft.

Basically there are many possibilities for VAS consumption, not just the one I found with a single small BGL.

Cheers, Rob.

It wonders me why free VAS is not increasing with hundreds of mb when the aicraft gets further away from the departed airport....

Even when having departed from a default airport free VAS does not increase ...

This is , imho , the main issue. VAS is not getting cleared from scenery further away.

Perhaps it is the way the sim is built. I do not know.

Hopefully this specific issue can be optimized by LM so we allcan enjoy this 32 bit program to it's fullest....

Great images, but I suspect that magic is involved since you can apply LOD of 6.5  :P

What are your autogen settings? Tessellation etc?

Thank you very much Rob !!! I'm sure it wasn't an easy find. I hope it relates to an SDK issue which means that we may can hope for a wide spread memory bug that will reduce or eliminate the OOM errors.

I was always wondering if it could be a hard stop in loading memory more than 2-3GB every time, forcing unloading of scenery so that an OOM never happens. However I know this is an ideal scenario far away from the thousands of LM or 3rd party files that are being loaded and come into play every time.

Now if we could have a similar solution to FlyTampa's Toronto...:)

FTX Global/UTX Europe (all options ON, except to residential), NGX, 100% custom-made AI (FAIB, TFS, AIA, FMAI)

Take off remaining VAS with FSUIPS was 1.5 GB, while crossing "infamous OOM bridge" it dropped to 1.2 GB, once I reached FL100, it returned back to 1.35

The Bridge has definitely has some effect on VAS consumption but it varies

Yes, the recent version of NGX. Much better on VAS then even less system-detailed Aerosoft Airbus
