OOM workaround for FlyTampa's Copenhagen

Ok, I was able to replicate the huge memory consumption with Orbx Vector installed.  Since I was using the F22 it didn't OOM but did drop from a starting 1.29GB to 550 MB in just a matter of a few seconds as I cross the bridge.

 

If I remove the cvxOresund_Terrain.bgl the exact same scenario/flight and memory will go 1.29 GB to 1.6 GB and then back to about 1.5GB.

 

So there does appear to be some conflict or issue between Copenhagen and Orbx Vector in my testing.

 

I can show you video and VAS logs and provide scenery.cfg and terrain.cfg if that will help anyone.

Hi Richard ... PMDG 737 doesn't seem to factor into the issue other than it just "naturally" uses more memory.  I was able to duplicate the memory consumption using the default F22.

Just want to ask you about this, you do talk about the NGX for P3D right? I just checked my version using PMDG Operations Center and as seen below it reports I'm using the most current version and I haven't applied any updates. But maybe I bought the NGX for P3D when it was already updated and got the latest version via the full installer...?

My understanding that if PMDG OC does not ask you to update (check upper-right corner), thus you have the most recent version. 737 NGX for P3D is great now. Next week I'll buy 777 - I hav heard a lot of bad things regarding its VAS handling, but I'm not one of those who push sliders to the limit :-)

Both options unchecked

 

Various Features

Well have all products to and no issues at all.

But then again I killed quite a few Vector options in favour of huge vas gains and stutter free experience ;-)

Agree. Switched to UTX, it's become a life changer for me. Still use Vector in non-UTX areas though

Wow! I wonder whether the find would lead to other plug in other FlyTampa sceneries?  I have no idea what was in that file that caused this, but developer like to reuse stuff, you will never know.

I don't know what's going on ... I just unchecked OpenLC EU entries in my scenery library, hit ok ... ran the same test and no VAS issues.  So I checked the OpenLC EU entries expecting the VAS issue to return and it didn't?  So now FTX Global, OpenLC EU and Vector are not causing any VAS issue with FT Copenhagen with cvxOresund_Terrain.bgl active.

 

Is this a scenery library Index problem?  A terrain.cfg problem?

 

Without some additional diagnostic tools this is proving to be me chasing my tail in circles. The only PC I can consistently replicate this issue is now my main PC ... my test PC is no longer able to duplicate the problem.

 

I just don't have more time to spend on this ... got paying work to do.  If I get some diagnostic tools from LM I'll install on the PC I can consistently replicate the issue ... but until then, I've gotta move on.

Hmm. I have UTX2 Deactivated. Normal autogens tml=1024 tml 4.5 medium water. High shadows but only cloud shadows at 30km.Still cold and dark ngx is 3.2gb at gate A20. This is without ASN active and No fs2crew.

But i dont get the oom on take off and flying vfr around EKCH seems like 3.7gb.

 

How the heck do you have over 1GB free?

Exactly what I'm experiencing! 

 

Even with LOD 4.5, TML 1024 and autogen set to normal I can only depart this EKCH scenery with 300-400 FREE VAS...

Yes  , Sometimes 3.5gb on departure but still no where near 1gb free.

 

I think i used to have 2.8-2.9gb at gate A20 C&D in the NGX with UTII at 20% (Prepar3D 2.4-2.5 without hotfixes)) so i seem to have lost 300mb after my re-install of P3D 2.5 (12.945) . Now with Mytraffic at 15% (80-100mb VAS) instead of UTII and also leaving out Vector AND UTXEU2. Only FTX Global 1.30

 

With UTXEU2 and ASN1024/ 512 softclouds ,FS2CREW enabled i am at 3.5GB Cold and Dark at Gate A20

Unfortunate for us, of course, but nice to see other having the same issue. Thought I was the only one.

 

I have been trying to deselect MANY features such as disabling Vector and OpenLC completely, all night environment enhancements, all nearby scenery obviously etc.

 

Even tried in-game sliders all the way to the left only with a small increase in free VAS. I have no idea why VAS usage is so extremely high. Now I know it can't be compared, but in FSX:SE I could depart EKCH in the NGX with 1200 MB free VAS with LOD 6.5 and autogen set to VERY dense.

Must I rename all files ekch_rwy.bgl? I have rename oresund and oom it is gone. But when I fly from exempel Gotenburg to Copenhagen my aircraft freezing 1-4 seconds and fps are 7-10.

No, for OOM just the single file below:
 
filename: cvxOresund_Terrain.bgl
location: ...\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Addon Scenery\FlyTampa-Copenhagen_LC\scenery
 
rename the file to cvxOresund_Terrain_blg.OFF
 
If you want to get some FPS performance improvement you can disable the following also:
ekch_rwy_04*.BGL
ekch_rwy_12*.BGL
ekch_rwy_22*.BGL
ekch_rwy_30*.BGL
ekch_rwy_1230*.BGL
 
But you lose runway lights.  I "think" FT dev might be working on alternative lights for a future patch but don't quote me.

I keep trying to tell everyone that FSX/P3D has voodoo magic in the source code, but nobody listens!!
