July 11, 201510 yr Searched for Avsim amongst other things on Google Trends while wasting half an hour. Interesting site. Interesting result. https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=Avsim i7 7700k, @ 4.6Ghz. GTX1070 8Gig. 32Gigs DDR4 2400. Win 10 pro. X-Plane 11.
July 11, 201510 yr wow thanks for sharing, very informative when they have VAS fixed , that avsim trending graph will break glass.
July 11, 201510 yr Hmmm...I'd have thought it would have been up some since the release of Steam Edition. Interesting that Orbx, Simmarket and AirDailyX are doing nicely. July 11, 201510 yr Hmmm...I'd have thought it would have been up some since the release of Steam Edition. Interesting that Orbx, Simmarket and AirDailyX are doing nicely. Maybe not if a large proportion of those using the Steam edition were already here, anyway...... It might just mean that truly new users are not coming here, yet. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. July 11, 201510 yr That's not really an accurate way of determining a site's popularity... That's how many people search AVSIM... What you need to look at is actual traffic: http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/avsim.net http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/avsim.com Sincerely, Chase My 2017 Build: Liquid Cooled i7 7700K CPU idle @ 4.2GHz | MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G | 16GB's DDR4 4000 RAM | ASUS 27" 144hz Gaming Monitor | MSI Z270 M7 Motherboard | Windows 10 | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500GB SSD
July 11, 201510 yr I wasn't aware of either Google Trends or Alexa until reading these posts. I was intrigued enough to check out on Alexa some flight sim sites I visit on a daily basis. I wonder what degree of accuracy there is. For example, on AirDailyX/newsbreaker's website there is a world map which, by clicking on it, takes you to a listing of the towns and countries of persons who are currently on the website or have been there in the previous 10 minutes or so. Next to that list is a list ranking countries and showing the number of historical visits for each country and the percentage for each figure. See by clicking on the world map at http://www.airdailyx.net/fsnewsbreaker/ The top three ranked there are the US at 23.01%, Germany at 11.35% and United Kingdom at 11.00%. - not unexpected. Coming in at 11th position is Venezuela at 0.20%. By comparison, for AirDailX.net, Alexa appears to show Venezuela on top at 54.2%, then the US at 28.9% and then France at 6.9%. Germany is fourth at 3.8% but the United Kingdom does not appear in the top four (the only ones listed). There appears to be a significant difference between the two sets of figures. Am I missing something here? Gary
July 11, 201510 yr Author I didn't know about Alexa at all. I just thought it was an curious and interesting find is all. A search for the general term flight sim shows searches in decline which is not unexpected I suppose but nonetheless a shame if it actually shows general new interest in decline. i7 7700k, @ 4.6Ghz. July 11, 201510 yr Here are some more stats in the past 90 days: As you can see, we had around 30-50 new registrations a day with a total of 2815 registrations in the past 90 days. On those dates where there were no registrations, AVSIM was down for repairs. The image below shows just the first few days in January when we had some 3 figure registrations. The 8,081 total below represents the total registrations from 1 January to date. We owe some thanks to Dovetail with the release of FSX-SE as in December we had over 5300 new registrations alone. Of course, PMDG releases and products released by other developers like RealAir and Carenado helped create new registrations too. The popularity of the Flight Simulation hobby continues. July 11, 201510 yr Author There's life in the old dog yet It's a pity that all FS sites and companies aren't so open and transparent. I often think that if companies released their end of year sales figures it would be very instructional to new startups considering their options and to users considering their products. I know it won't happen but it might be a good thing if it did. Everyone I think always wants to know how big and healthy the marketplace really is even if it's just out of idle curiosity. We often hear folks saying that the hobby is dying and it's nice to see information like this to refute that, thanks Jim. i7 7700k, @ 4.6Ghz. GTX1070 8Gig. 32Gigs DDR4 2400. Win 10 pro. X-Plane 11.
