Prepar3d V3 Release date Wednesday 30th September

Recommended Posts

So I assume V2 and V3 can be installed side by side?

From the P3D forums..."Yes, you can have multiple versions of Prepar3D installed on the same machine."

With regards to upgrading from 2.5 to v3.0... "Prepar3D v3 is a new release. It is not an upgrade to v2.5 and there is no mechanism to convert v2.5 to v3."

  Regards, Craig

Perhaps after installing v3 we can port over addon folders/files and have them work right away...

Why is everyone bouncing around this 200$ dollar figure - I am going to buy the 59.95$ version just like the one I all ready have - it shall be worth every penny from what I have heard

Agreed. Why does regular people require the professional 200 $ version. I'll gladly pay 60 bucks for an optimized game, although I am very very curious as to how much VAS usage has been improved.

Is there a better VAS handeling ?

2 Is there an installation way so 2.5 can be upgraded to v3 without the need to reinstall all addons , like 2.4 to 2.5 ?

3 Is there a Distortion fix when using multi monitor ( solving the fisheye effect )

4 Is the water looking better now ?

Thanks

Gerard

Answered by Saul from LM :

Hi Saldo,

1, VAS Handling is incredible now! you won't believe it. I Tried a few scenarios that previously would produce an OOM but they didn't now.

2, No there a lot of changes in v3 structure so its not possible to convert v2.x into v3.

3, Not Yet.

4, Yes a little, Some of the water animation has been revisited.

WOW! that alone is worth the V3 purchase.

+1,000,000 Lots of comments about upgrade pricing v2.6 ec, but to move away from those double planar trees that are less complicated than the trees I remember from my very old BBC acorn Sentinel game... priceless!!!

It might be time for me to renew by dev subscription for a month and give P3D a try again (Last I tried was v2), although I have to say, it seems more of a small bump to v2.6 than deserving of a new major version number.

Does anyone have any pictures of the new trees?

No reason to upgrade fro me. This is a bug-fix release they call 3.0 and charge you for it.

Only reason I might consider it is Oculus Rift. But by the time I own that baby we'll probably see v4.0 (btw, doesn't it already work with 2.5?)

Its more than apparent many of you have no idea (or completely ignoring the fact) of how costly and time intensive software development is. LM have released several updates through the v2 line and now they need to keep people onboard and coding .. and PAID.

I really wondering if one of the betatesters tried EZDOK / EZCA. Is this working or not?

That is basically true of course. However LM is a different situation in my view as their product is clearly designed for customers other than the 'casual gamer'. And those will (have to) pay anyway. I don't think that we (the gaming comunity - sorry the academic community ) is adding much volume moneywise to this product. But I don't know any figures so I may be wrong.

I just stated that the excess value for me is not present to justify the investment (let alone the amount of time I have left nowadays to use the sim). Of course everyone shpuld decide for themselves.
