A quick P3D V3 video

I'm not Rob (I wonder how often I am going to post that today LOL) but no, speed trees aren't default trees. They have been added to thje library (some 18 trees) and can be added to the scenery by developers. Or yourself, if you know how to edit scenery. But they mainly will be used to enhance airports and not to replace entire forests (which would hurt performance). By default they are placed, so I was told, around v3's default start up location, so you can see them in action, but not anywhere else.

EDIT

Derek typed faster.

Understood. Thx guys.

The avatar feature is cool, but it doesn't blow my socks off.

In all honesty, I don't think that was the intention.

I think we have a very capable sim platform for the future

Couldn't agree more.  With the VAS issue fixed and other enhancements, its a great day for us all.

I would say no this day and age, especially if they are moving past 2.6 right to 3.0.  IMO, if there is not a significant performance boost, this is just a money grab from Lockheed Martin, following in the footsteps of EA and Ubisoft.

it looks like every 5 updates we get a new P3D

1.0-1.5

2.0-2.5

and now 3.0

Looks nice but is wrong. The 1.x series stopped with 1.4.

Kind regards, Michael

Release time isn't far off, will someone report back if the AI night light distance has been improved or not. Thanks.

Now with that said, we have tested many weather scenarios and have not been able to duplicate the popcorn clouds in v.3.

Thanks Tim, looks great!

Cheers, Rob.

I got permission from LM to post videos/info last Friday the 25th (got busy so that didn't happen), but I'll provide a quick video of V3 here at what I consider to be extreme graphics settings using some very heavy VAS/FPS hitters:

Region is Orbx NA NorCal, Airport is FlightBeam's KSFO HD, graphics settings are at the end of the video ... it is recorded in 4K and is using NI for 4X SGSS AA.  Hardware is 5960X with two Titan X's in SLI performance mode.

Thanks for this video, anxious to test the performance later today.. curious.. what type/model of screen are you using.. i'm assuming its one single (big) screen?  I've been thinking of moving to a single screen solution from my three 24" screens (5760x1080), for ease of making videos and less of a performance hit (3840 / 4k or similar scaled down doesnt look good at all).. thinking maybe a 48 is the ticket.

Asus Strix z790-e; 1000 watt evga SuperNova Plat; 14900k AC_LL 0.55 adp -0.050 253/253/355 CEPoff (CB-1pass 39200 80c, msfs peak 92,avg 60-78c, astrorender 95c,room76F); 64GB(dual 32) cl32 6400 at 6400 xmpII F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK, Asus Ryuo III 360mm; Thermaltake v51 Case; Gigabyte 4090 OC; VR-Crystal; Dofreality H6; Astrosite

49" Sony XBR850B (older 4K model with HDMI 2.0 support and can operate at 30Hz and 60Hz with excellent image quality).

BTW, 5760 x 1080 is 6,220,800 pixels, 4K (3840 x 2160) is 8,294,400 pixels ... going from your current setup to 4K will induce MORE of a performance hit, not less (it's all about pixel count).

Cheers, Rob.
