October 21, 201510 yr I have installed P3Dv3 in every which way I can but it still keeps crashing after about 5 minutes no matter what aircraft or airfield I depart from I have an i5 3750k on a Gygabite 77dh board. an Egva 660 ti sc and 14 gb of ram. I have photoscenery of the uk loaded but one volume and i am using the JF tornado gr1 v3. I have also tried with default aircraft on default scenery with the default flight I never had this with 2.5 and its starting to annoy me somewhat. I know there are other threads with the same problem but there does not seem to be a definitive answer. many thanks Edited October 23, 201510 yr by Jim Young Topic title edited to change patients to patience
October 21, 201510 yr Error message? Log file ? There's nothing here for anyone to help understand the issue, much less solve it. I'd go back to a default setup without addons and start from there. One addon at a time.
October 21, 201510 yr Moderator I agree - do a complete reinstall - delete all the add-on folders. Now run P3D and if you get an error - post the error report and/or the logs. If no error - add back one or two add-ons and try again until you narrow down what is causing the problem. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
October 21, 201510 yr Mine is in here  Libraries/Documents/Prepar3dV3 *EDIT* this is the P3D Content Error Log Not Event Viewer (Log)
October 21, 201510 yr Great topic title. +1. Thought I accidentally went to a medical forum... ;-) I have an i5 3750k on a Gygabite 77dh board. an Egva 660 ti sc and 14 gb of ram. Overclocked? Sounds much like an unstable overclock... [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE
October 21, 201510 yr Author sorry about the typo, been on nights and have predictive text. hey ho. Neither my card nor my rig are overclocked, the only aircraft I have installed is the JF tornado but even before this it was happening. I have no other addons installed other than photo scenery and that is on a separate hard drive.I must admit I am not very technical when it comes to tweaking P3D. is there a programme to monitor VAS use? and I will re-install and do another flight, and then post the crash report. PS there is no message that says it has crashed or out of memory, it just goes off. many thanks
October 21, 201510 yr Elaine, I think you'll find that's the P3D Content Error Log (missing textures, duplicate .cfg keys and the like). What I think Gingerterry needs is the Event Viewer (Log) which is in Control Panel, System and Security, Administrative Tools. That's where you'll find crash logs, faulting modules and the like for error and crash investigation, though there's a lot to check through. (The crash or error info will be in there even if no direct error message on the fail) It is important, as the instructions say, to always run P3D first from the desktop shortcut and make sure admin rights. But first as Vic says, a reinstall
October 21, 201510 yr Ooooooh, i understand now, thank you Birdy  I must find mine now that you say it.
October 21, 201510 yr Author thanks birdmanmike. here is that list, of the latest error log, this was the default flight and crashed at 2m 01 seconds. will go for the reinstall again. October 21, 201510 yr Just going off is almost ALWAYS a symptom of a graphic card driver failure, overheating, or inadequate power supply. Pretty much anything else generates an error message we could read here, or as screen pop-up.
October 21, 201510 yr Author will try a roll back on the NVidia card first, as for the others symptoms. I have a 750 w PSU 6 fans in the case and runs lovely and cool. many thanks. its all gobbledegook to me.
October 21, 201510 yr That error log states StackHash_0a9e as faulting. That's a very frequent fault and a quick internet search will find many, many hits and possible reasons for that, including in Avsim's own Crash to desktop (CTD) forum, but also some MS KB fixes, old IE problems and lots more. NVidia comes up, and MS own software saving from malicious code. The list is endless. Many will give no message or pop up at all. Certainly overheating can cause but would give no direct error message - for example overheating quite likely won't - (though as mentioned in the Avsim forum would likely be much longer before fail - more like 5 hours not 5 minutes as said in that forum) As it's in the prepar3d. exe execute that it happened you should look in P3D forum and search that error in the P3D Client section. There are currently 16 hits for that error and is possible access violation. I note that if you look at the error report it says the standard messages were put out by P3D when it went down, that is prepar3d has stopped working, windows can check online for a solution and the options, so maybe you missed them. I would say your best bet if this re-occurs after a re-install clean, would be to look in the LM P3D forums - and raise your own support query there . . .
October 21, 201510 yr Commercial Member Quite a lot of Stackhash errors can be fixed by updating one's antivirus and anti spyware software followed by running deep level scans. Not saying this is this case with your error, but it does correct a lot of such errors. Additionally, the dreaded windows update is something to check as well, plus updating your drivers. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer for this type of problem, it goes system by system.
