How do I remove the external VIEW from FS9?

Featured Replies

I don't want the PC to utlize the resources for external view. Infact..I want to delete the view window. but I am unable to.I want the FS9 to be used only for the main panel guages. I want the CPU to be used exclusively for the Aircaft, and guages.How do I do that? If its possible.I would like to use Wideview and other PC for external view.I tried lowering everything when it came to graphics.. and vew and traffic and everything. But minimizing those did not help much.Any ideas?Hmmm....

You are talking about changes that would need to be done to the code of FS engine itself. Not possible, sorry..

You cannot actually get rid of external views, but you can minimise their CPU impact by whacking all your sliders to the left. And if you are flying one particular aircraft all the time, you could change it's TEXTURE folder to TEXTUREBK, which would then mean that FS would not try to load its textures. Lastly, you can certainly modify your PANEL.CFG of any given aircraft to give you only instruments with no background; or if you use an aircraft such as the default Cessna or MAAM-SIM DC-3 or B-25, those come with IFR panel views.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a]

Best you can do is to minimise the window as much as possible and turn all visual effect to minimum.

It is EXTREMELY SIMPLE to accomplish what you want!Add a "new" [Window00] (renumber the original and all subesquent windows also!), and make it totally blank...[Window Titles]Window00=Main Control <=== Create a new entry here!Window01=Main Panel//--------------------------------------------------------[Window00]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=1280,960window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7visible=0 <=== This means it won't be seen!ident=0window_size= 1.000, 1.000window_pos= 0.000, 0.000//--------------------------------------------------------[Window01] <=== This is the original [Window00]!file=Main_Panel.bmp file_1024=Main_Panel.bmp size_mm=1280,960window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=1ident=1window_size= 1.000, 1.000window_pos= 0.000, 0.000gauge00=MyGauges!Annunciator, 86,496,76,264... rest of gauge entries follow from here!

>Thanks Bill.. Will try that out.No problem! This will eliminate the "outside 3d view" entirely, and leave only the "Main Panel" displayed...

Most interesting. Does it improve FPS significantly?

>Most interesting. Does it improve FPS significantly?Well, it's easy enough to check out... You don't even need to "edit" the panel.cfg to do so.While in 2d panel view, click on the 2d panel and drag it down a bit until you can see the outside view/black transition line.Use the left mouse button to "grab" the bottom border, and slide it all the way to the top (which effectively "shuts it off."You will see a HUGE spike in framerates when the outside view is closed.The chief advantage to the method that I suggested previously is simple:Shift-1 will re-enable the outside view instantly, should you want it again. The next time you load the a/c, the outside view will be "off" again.

Thanks for the tip!!!!It has doubled my framerates.I don't fly in 2D anyway. I need it only when starting a flight so all the systems can be initiated.This should be a sticky!!!

Or rightclick on it and close window?Johan[A HREF=http://jdserver.no-ip.com]Personal Server[/A]A LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION, AND A LITTLE MORE ACTION PLEASE!HELP:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=238882
