SSW releases a patch

Featured Replies

I don't own the SSW product yet, but from what I read here and from what I can see on their site, it looks like a "decent" bird. However, I am not very much into the A310, I just find it so much less useful for the routes that I am flying compared to the A300.Thus, my question is the following: can this panel be merged with the (phantastic) A300 by Harald Nehring and Frank Weiss?I would love to fly a LH A300 on one of the trunk routes out of FRA to LHR, MUC, TXL or HAM; or take an AA A300 on a ride to the Caribbean from JFK or MIA.Anyone tried?

Mozart I don't think merging SSW's panel with a freeware package is a good idea. I read somewhere that it didn't work well with other aircraft because the autopilot issues...

Hello Dillon,When you applied the 1.5 patch did you just install over the version you had or did you uninstall the A310 and then install each version from the beginning? There was a thread on the SSW forum stating that you need to reinstall each version from scratch to properly apply the patch. Thanks for your help,Rodney Hudlow

Look at the thread on their forum:http://www.simsoftworkshop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2522It's funny they post a thread right after the release of the patch and the un-fixed items are more than the fixed ones. Some people were angry and some were laughing. But adding all of them up together it's really not many people anymore comparing to their customer crowd two years ago. That's the worst a commercial developer can get when they don't do it right...product wise and customer care wise.I own the A310 and I did have a lot of fun with it in the earlier days but it's long gone from my sim. It had a bit more problems than I can live with. The SSW A310 is a WONDERFUL & ahead-of-its-time product that's never really delivered.Jason Zhang

Good initial report. Bumping!

Rodney it took so long for SSW to release the patch (over a year and a half now), I had uninstalled the aircraft months ago. All I did was reinstall the base product and applied the 1.4 patch and then 1.5. Maybe I got something wrong on my end but the add-on sure works as advertised now... :-hah

Guys I'm happy to report all major issues seem to be resolved now. I just did an FMS programmed flight from KMEM to KIND and everything worked flawlessly. :-jumpy I didn't get too detailed in programming the FMS so maybe others will come along and find problems. Whether if be PMDG, Ariane, or LDS I program the FMS/FMC just enough to give me my route information on the ND screen and insure the plane in question follows the route when the option is chosen on the autopilot. I don't get into all that other stuff plus I hate autolandings unless I really have to use it (inclement weather). Concerning programming the SSW A310's FMS, it's really easy to do. The route comes up as it should on the ND screen and once in flight the plane properly follows the route. That's all I need.I humbly say after 2+ years and two versions of Flight Simulator SSW has finally finished this add-on. Yes there's issues with the autopilot like I mentioned above that won't affect you if you only fly from point A to B (land and stay there). If you want to takeoff again reload the aircraft to insure the autopilot resets itself. Overall the package is done. I'm happy with it as this is a very fun aircraft to fly and it

Hi guys,Well I just reinstalled everything including the new patch and I'm pretty happy with it.Seems to work perfectly for me.It's nowhere near the LDS or PMDG standard, but it is still very good for systems simulation. I learnt a lot from the 310 because there are NO shortcuts or jump in and go options. I like that.SO finally I'm a happy customer.Paul

"It's nowhere near the LDS or PMDG standard"Paul can you explain this in detail??? What about this package (as far as systems modeling is concerned) is not on par with other comparable 'Hard Core' products? I'm only speaking for in cockpit simulation here. The visual model is decent and the VC is very nice (it's just not interactive). I don't get it... I can't understand how anyone could feel the hardcore aspect of this product is any less than other comparable products... :-hmmm

I haven't flown the patched version..but I thought the original was pretty darn good. It had a few problems..and I did think the LD767 was slightly better..but the SSW A310 is still an outstanding product. If you are on the fence you can read my review here:http://www.simhq.com/_air4/air_125a.htmlThat was only part 1 of a 5 part series...Regards..BeachAV8R

So how's the flight dynamics, is it true that it climbs like a rocket?Jeff

Jeff the FDE is solid to me but I haven't checked the numbers yet (I guess I'm still in shock it finally works). I don't know if I'd say the A310 climbs like a rocket but it does pretty darn good (better than most). I believe the real world A310 is no different than most other Airbuses as they all have exceptional climb rates.

OK, For the hardcore systems, I think it is on a par with the best out there at the moment... and that's the real beauty of the SSWA310But here are my dislikes...First and formost it's taken 18 months to become a good product. Support has been slow.I don't like the fact of the FMC is another window with all the surround etc. There have been irregular and problematic Navdata updates. The new data seems good though.I want to clarify... I like the A310... in the beginning it taught me a lot about systems and now it's finally flyable I will use it more...I say it's not of the same standard as LDS and PMDG because it has taken them 18 months to get it patched to a flyable standard, the non interactive VC and the model isn't quite up to the standards of the products mentioned. As far as systems go it's great.I would recommend this plane... but as a hardcore product. One good thing to say about SSW- at least they stuck with it and finally delivered.Paul
