January 5, 201610 yr Hi, Here are my most recent flights, a return trip from KSFO to EGLL and back! Here are the links to the full albums.. yes I take an exaggerated amount of screenshots per flight. BAW284 from KSFO to EGLL BAW285 from EGLL to KSFO System: -i5 2500k @ 4.7GHZ -16GB DDR3 RAM -GTX 970 @ 1080p -P3D running off a 250GB Samsung EVO SSD Addons used: -P3DV3.1 -Active Sky Next SP4 Beta -REX 4 Texture direct -FS Real Time -GSX -EZDok 1.18.7 beta -ReShade 1.1.0 -Flight Beam KSFO HD -UK 2000 EGLL v3 First flight: British Airways 284 from San Francisco to London Heathrow Catering coming in at gate A7 in SFO A couple of seconds before rotation of 10R in SFO Off we go! Good morning, descending over the UK Preparing to turn base, while releasing I accidentally left most of my scenery sliders to the right, explaining my sudden decrease in FPS as the entire city of London appears in 3D... but it looks good though! Turning on final for 27R Final approach Landing in London And now, a couple of hours of waiting before leaving back to San Fran... Second flight: British Airways 285 from London Heathrow to San Francisco Pushback complete, here we go Take-off from 09R Right turn after take-off as per the SID On our way back... Self-vectoring required after figuring out, at TOD, that I am setup for 28R in SFO but the winds favor the 10's Back on track and descending through the soup On final for 10L And finally, at last back at gate A7 where I started the trip Thanks for looking at my shots! I hope you enjoyed. Philippe Hewett"It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature."
January 5, 201610 yr Great pics and write up Philippe! Those big GE90's deserve a break now. Also nice to know someone out there takes more screenshots than I do B) Chris Sunseri
January 6, 201610 yr Nice shots. Are those London buildings made by ORBX? Must be a big drop in FPS ;-) UTX Europe is much better IMHO. Vu Pham i7-13700K 5.2 GHz OC, 64 GB RAM, RTX5090, SSD for Sim, SSD for system. MSFS2020, XP-12, DCS
January 6, 201610 yr Author Thanks for the comments! As far as I know, they are the generic P3D buildings... I only have REX as a "graphical" addon, no ORBX! Unless my UK2000 EGLL included the city? I don't think it did. Philippe Hewett"It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature."
January 6, 201610 yr Nice shots. As far as I know, SFO uses rwy 28R and L for landings even if winds favor landings on rwy 10. Also, 01 R and L is almost exclusively used for takeoff runways. But I once landed on 10R on a VATSIM flight after self-vectoring as well so... Brynjar Mauseth
January 6, 201610 yr Author Oh ok, thanks very much for the info Brynjar! I'll take that into consideration next time. Cheers, Philippe Hewett"It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature."

January 7, 201610 yr I like the pictures Philippe! I have a basically identical system to yours and use many of the same addons; I was wondering what sort of frame rates and smoothness (in your judgment) do you get with P3D? James Schroeder 7900X3D | 4080 Super | G.Skill 64gb 6000mhz CAS36
January 7, 201610 yr Author Thank you all! I was wondering what sort of frame rates and smoothness (in your judgment) do you get with P3D? Jim, it's hard to tell.. I haven't used an FPS monitor for a while, and honestly although I bought P3D v3 in October when it was released, I only really started using it about a week ago. I had only used FSX before. In my opinion, I've never been happier! I haven't used FSX for several weeks, don't forget, but I feel like my simming has never been better than now. I am really happy, a part from the CTD I get on every single flight so far, but it's most likely me that screwed up at some point in the install a couple of months ago. The FPS while on the ground in major airports (I only have UK2000 EGLL and KSFO FlightBeam for now) is fine for me, I haven't checked.. maybe 25-40 FPS? I do remember from my FSX days though, when I used to take-off, I sometimes got some really bad stutters on the take-off roll... I really hated that. It feels much smoother now. On one of the flights from the pictures above, I discovered that having "cloud shadows" on in P3D made my frame-rate drop to like 10 FPS when it's full overcast in a busy airport, and in the PMDG 777. Just turning that option off gave me so much more smoothness, and it doesn't look THAT bad without cloud shadows, FSX doesn't even have them anyway! TLDR: I am happy with the performance and smoothness, and the general LOOK of the sim just makes me want to never go back to FSX. I think it's mostly the lighting that makes me so happy. Look at these 4 shots, first from FSX, and then from P3Dv3. FSX doesn't look BAD, but I find P3D's look much more satisfying... FSX-1 FSX-2 P3DV3-1 P3DV3-2 I hope I kind of answer your question! EDIT: I forgot to mention, in the pictures above (first post) with all the London buildings, I had forgotten my scenery density sliders fully right... I don't usually flight like that. In the VC, with all the buildings in clouds, I was getting 16-20FPS. I didn't mind landing with that framerate because it was still relatively smooth, and looked great on the screenshots! I haven't flown more than 4-5 full flights (12h+) in P3D yet, but I have had 0 OOMs. And I don't need to disable sceneries I don't fly over anymore. Everything is left ON. January 7, 201610 yr I hope I kind of answer your question! Haha yes that definitely helped answer it! Glad to hear you like it so much, I'm considering switching over sometime soon James Schroeder 7900X3D | 4080 Super | G.Skill 64gb 6000mhz CAS36
