So what's going on at REX?

FEX is not even close, but the last time that I explained the  background as to why the REX Soft Clouds approach was technically superior, the post got deleted. :Shame On You:

Guess someone didnt want to see another flaming topic - nothing personal I would assume

Not sure I'm even going to reinstall honestly when they do update... I've got Texture Direct w/ Soft Clouds, but never did reinstall for 3.1, and can't say I've missed it at all.  Not sure it's worth the hassle.  Apparently I can't even tell the difference ha

The topic had no flaming at all.

REX can be set to DX10 and DX11. In the time FEX was released ( 2008 ) it was all DX9.

The cumulus cloud from FEX in my screenshot is a very nice one which I will use a lot.

As I am waiting for the REX hotfix I manually copied a better looking DX11 sun into P3D ( had the default sun after upgrading ) and it is working fine...

So is FEX still DX9 only today?

Clouds textures are DX less...( it doesn't matter which version of DX )

Sun textures can use DX10 / DX11 features.

I haven' looked at sky and water...

Since the recent, unfortunate, problem with RTD+Softies, I have lost my low-level clouds. All however is not doom and gloom! This is an epiphany! Is this how the rest of World flies? Visibilty beyond 10 metres (and a flock of grounded Gulls taking bets on whether or not you return in one piece)? Clear blues with fluffy, wispy bits at fl300? No wonder Rob and Froogle abandoned the UK for somewhere more 'Foreign'!! :D  Where's my Passport?

Stupidly expensive rig, nonplussed Memsahib, disinterested offspring and a fascinated cat as Rio.  XP11, P3Dv3 and an Oculus Rift.

lol, you're enjoying the lack of clouds more than I am. It's been overcast, misty, and gloomy here in NEUSA the past couple days but I get lots of blue sky with ASN.

That said, does anyone know which files are affected by the problem? I've cleaned out the shaders several times to no avail. Also made some other unorthodox moves to restore things, but alas, no low/mid-level clouds. Still hoping today the fix will come along.

P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.

Shush Greg! Don't tell everyone!!  I am finally flying with those expensive eBay (really authentic at £5.99), Ray-Bans and working on my SunTan!!! B)

Gee you're right, I'm flying directly into the sun over northern Maine...off to find my aviators! OK, never mind about the fix.

So for a cmplete ignorant, could you explain to a noob what I would have to install? I have just installed a brand new system, only the sim + obx ftx global + vector + OLC. Should I get the latest full installer and then this hotfix, or am I missing a service pack in the middle or something?

Reed, Thanks for burning the mid-night oil.
