What's the trick? I am using the trial version, don't know if this makes a difference or not. Also using P3D V3

I wonder if it's P3D that's the issue.  I run it in FSX, and didn't really think about it not working in P3D, but I thought it worked there as well.

It should work fine in the trial version of Foreflight  - or at least mine did when I first trialed it.  Note that the trial is the Basic version which includes geo-referenced en-route charts but not approach plates.

Just to cover all the other bases...

This does require FSUIPC.  I think the non-paid version is sufficient but can't say for sure as I've had the paid version for just about forever.  It also requires that your iPad and sim computer live on the same subnet.  If your wireless is on a different subnet, it will not work (something I ran into as I had my wireless on a separate subnet for security reasons).  I generally fire up FlightSimGPS before starting the sim as I've had trouble if I start it after the sim is running.  I assume you were able to connect the sim as a device from within ForeFlight OK once FlightSimGPS is running?  If you haven't done this, in ForeFlight go to More --> Devices and you should see the sim show up here.  Cycle it to On.

If none of that helps, you might try FSXFlight, which the ForeFlight docs specifically say works with both FSX and P3D.  FSXFlight is payware, but relatively inexpensive.

It's the normal Saitek Throttle Quadrant where I replaced the handles that comes with the product with more realistic handles bought from here.

Found it. Enable switch on second page.

This is a very, very cool app. Highly recommended.

Hello Gunther,

Best regards

Andreas

Hello Andreas - I just downloaded the trial version and setup was easy and straight forward and I can connect from my Android to PC without any issues but I cannot stay connected but for less than 1 minute and I need to hit the connect screen constantly.... Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Thanks, Scott.

Just bought the pay version after using for only one day.

I love having everything in one place and on an iPad to boot.

This thing shows current  weather (as in satellite) too!

Cheers,

Mark

Hello Nick,

first thanks for testing our FS-FlightControl Instructor Station!

Although the Android app is still in beta status, we did not get many reports about a connection issue like this till now.

Please first check if there might be any updates for the Android app available in the Play Store (just to be sure you are using the latest version).

Then on the Windows side there is an option in "Settings" => "Not Aircraft Related Settings" => "Mobile Devices" to change the mobile device update rate:

Please play around a little bit with that (to both directions) if this makes any difference for you.

Beside that please check if your WiFi connection is good and stable. If not this could lead to disconnections as well.

Finally, you can expect a major update for the Android app within few weeks together with the release of the iOS app version which should also improve the connection stability and performance considerably.

I hope I could help with that already and looking forward to any further questions or ideas regarding our product!

Best regards

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

I have also been enjoying the trial version of your product but have a question about the 'Approach Training' module. Generally, this is working nicely and places the aircraft I've tried at the correct locations and in a stable state, but there seems to be some missing STARs and waypoints for some STARs.  For example I was trying a STAR approach to KABQ from the east and wanted LAVAN3 but its missing.  So I tried the KRKEE3 RNAV but the CABNO transition was not in the list of waypoints.  It seems also that there are no non-RNAV STARs available I could find.  Of course this could all be 'user error' and something I'm missing, hence the question:)

Thanks!

Hello Greg,

thanks for this info, we'll do some tests regarding SIDs/STARs for different airports (checking if they are imported correctly) within the next few days.

Glad you got things working and that you're enjoying it.  I know mine certainly elevated my sim experience.

Hello Greg,

just wanted to let you know that I did not forget your question about the SIDs/STARs.

We did investigate this already and found out that for some airports (like the one you mentioned) not all SIDs/STARs get imported correctly and are in the progress in improving our data import algorithm to fix that. You can expect an fix regarding that in an update next week.

Best regards and thanks again for your interest in FS-FlightControl

Andreas

Thanks for the quick reply Andreas.  That is awesome news as I find the 'Approach Training' one of the cooler (among many cool) features of FS-FlightControl.  Is it possible to have another trial period to check the SID/STAR fixes update? I think I have under a week left of my trial. Anyway, trial or no as long as all the arrival/approach data is there then I plan on purchasing the full version.  One more question if you could on moving aircraft to a selected position for approach training.  Does this work reliably for any 3rd party aircraft?  I had all kinds of issues with another product where some aircraft just would not cooperate and others were fine, but generally they would either spin right into the ground or be placed on the ground somewhere between houses.  Just don't want to run into that nightmare again as it was infuriatingly frustrating.

Thanks again for your quick response and willingness to push out an update so quickly.

Great to hear that you like it!

No problem, when your trial period ended, please just send us a message from within the program (in the "About" section) to get your ID. Then I'm happy to extend your trial period till this issue is fixed.

There are some areas in the program that are very aircraft dependent like the "Aircraft" and "Fuel/Load" section. Here it is possible that parts of that do not work with all third party aircraft, but I can say that we are already talking with some third party aircraft vendors to add specific support for their aircraft.

But talking about approach positioning we did not hear any complaint from a user till now that it does not work with a specific third party aircraft and we also did test it will major third party aircraft like PMDG and similar without any problems. So this feature the same as most other features like the comprehensive Map and Statistics will work fine with all third party aircraft.

Thanks again for your quick response and willingness to push out an update so quickly.

You are very welcome and to be honest bugs like this should even be fixed faster than about two weeks now in total, but this turned out to be a bit more complicated to fix and also needs some more intensive testing afterwards to make sure everything is really imported correctly then.

So therefore thanks for your patience!

Best regards

Andreas

I bought and used FSCOntrol for the first time yesterday and flew from Dubai to Gatwick in the 777. All I can say is Wow! This app is a FANTASTIC addition to fligthsim - especially the incorporation of the moving map and imported PFPX flightplan - not to mention the other functionalities.

I also purchased an Android tablet - specifically to use with this app. Unfortunately the app doesn't seem to work at all. I opened FS Control on my PC, but when I try to connect the tablet, the tablet screen just goes blank.

Although I'm sure this is a temporary issue, I am very impressed with this.

Thanks to Michael for the heads-up on this utility.

Hello Erich,

first thanks a lot for your purchase of FS-FlightControl - great to hear that you like our product!

The "black screen" issue on the Android side sounds very much like a firewall issue:

Please make sure that the Windows Firewall (and also all other installed firewall products) are disabled on your Windows system.

Another person in this thread here had the same problem and this solved it for him.

By the way, around the release of the iOS app in the next few weeks you can also expect a major update to the Android app version improving UI, performance and stability.

Best regards

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

Great.  I'll look into the firewall item tonight.  Good to hear about the iOS release and the Android update.

I'll report back on my connection issue tomorrow.

HI Andreas,

Okay, the app now establishes a connection, after allowing it via the firewall permissions but drops the connection after about 2 seconds and reverts back to the connect screen
