Moving maps for tablets?

Featured Replies

Yeah, I heard that and it seems to have been like that for quite some time now so I'm not really sure what is going on and why it's so hard for Saitek to ship this product.

Maybe there's a new version/model around the corner...

    It's the normal Saitek Throttle Quadrant where I replaced the handles that comes with the product with more realistic handles bought from here.

Does Garmin Pilot sync your tablet to pc/p3d? I only want apps that will give me a moving map of a simulator flight that are wifi linked to my tablet.

Paul, Garmin Pilot connects through bluetooth, As far as I know it does not work over wifi.

Have you gotten Garmin Pilot connected to P3D? I haven't seen any way to do it, other than a company that sells a cable for a ridiculous amount of money. I have gotten ForeFlight connected via a program called FSXFlight, which works like a charm over my home network.

I connect it through Bluetooth to the machine running my sim with the help of a free bluetooth gps app for the tablet.

Also, not to forget is SimLauncherX, available in the avsim library. While initially geared at loading different scenarios this program has now a ton of other features including a very good map, it's also Navigraph updatable. It uses simconnect to connect to Prepar3D/MSFX so no worries about linking devices. The developer is very active and constantly improves his product. This is donationware.

I did not read the whole thread, but in case it has not been suggested: FSXfollow also works with P3D, and the App is working well on tablets. Solid moving map, which connects to the sim.

Chris

Hello Gunther,

we just released a major update yesterday evening of FS-FlightControl and added an additional option regarding the stutter issue you noticed:

Please update the program to the latest version 1.1.0 on the next program start and then go to “Settings” => “Not Aircraft Related Settings” =>”Mobile Devices”.

Here you will see a new option for the “Mobile App Update Rate”.
Please test if reducing the update rate also reduces the stutters you noticed.

Best regards
Andreas

I see Navigraph from cycle 1604 now supports FS-FlightControl.

Tried the new update and it solved all my connection problems and now runs solid. I am amazed at all the options and settings for various parts of the program and also at the fast and helpful replies from the developer.

Hallo Andreas,

I believe I owe you an apology. The stutters were caused by my settings. I run P3D with an affinity mask and habitually restrict all external add-ons to a single core. Apparently FS-FlightControl doesn't like that idea. Once I removed the affinity restrictions the stutters disappeared.

So I just placed an order :-)

Thank you very much for your work!

Tschüss!

Hello,

thanks for all your feedback!

@gboz:

Yes, indeed, Navigraph added official support for FS-FlightControl with the current AIRAC cycle as well.

@Paul:

Thank you for the confirmation here that the problem is solved for you and thanks for the nice e-mail communication in the past days. :-)

@Gunther:

Perfect, really glad that this is solved for you now, too, and thanks a lot for explaining the core of the problem here. We really search a bit on our side already what could have caused these stutters and are really happy now that you found the solution, danke!  :smile:

If any other questions or also new ideas for the product should come to your mind, please don't hesitate to post them here or write us directly!

Best regards and thanks everybody here for the interest in FS-FlightControl

Andreas

I have to also chime in and say based on just a few hours using the trial feel this product is amazing.  I have only used the 'Approach Training' part so far and and if it only had that it would would still be worth the price.  Other 'IFR training' products I have tried could never get working reliability with certain 3rd party aircraft and causes them to just go into an immediate unrecoverable spin or places the aircraft on the ground by houses (kind of funny if it weren't for the frustration of that).  This program is rock solid with the same aircraft and can do all types of approaches with STARs and lots of weather condition options.  And this is just a fraction of what it can do, including flight planning, moving maps, synoptics, failure injection, autopilot, statistics showing my crappy approaches to improve and exporting those approaches to Google Earth to analyze, and more.  Quite a polished program this is IMO.  Oh and the final piece that is what will decide for sure for me...compatible on Android tablet!

Add the conditions settings like weather (custom, real-time, themes) can be changed much more quickly than via the P3D menu. Same goes for season and time. This is even more true if you're running it on a networked laptop (like me) or tablet (like you) which is highly suggested.

Kind regards, Michael

Hi Folks,

Fltplan Go needs another little piece of software to run on your PC to facilitate the WiFi connection to your tablet... It really works well and it's unbelievable they offer it for free...

No need to set IP's or anything like that...

It's available here: http://www.fltplan.com/fsx.htm

Scott

Hi Manny,

Do you have your tablet setup on your local WiFi - the same network your PC is using ??? It should find it automatically - it won't work if your tablet is using the cellular connection...

Scott
