  • Dave, don't blame DTG, as they don't have moderator powers here. Blame me and my low tolerance for what amounts to nothing more than trolling posts. Your "videos" never showed up in any case, so they

Downloaded. Running. Non responsive controls and switches in free flight for some reason. So went to flying school. Wow its ultra smooth. Even peaked at 165 FPS hahaha.  AA is lacking as is some shimm

Yesterday i changed the configuration file so that the LOD RADIUS would be 12.000000 and i managed to get 6.1GB of memory used.

And let the tweaking begin :P

I enabled cloud and object shadows in the cfg, but they are uselessly broken. The fact the entries are there hopefully mean DT is looking to add them at some point, if not to this then to the full sim. I also tried converting and adding some other cloud textures, but they came out looking cell shaded  B)

congratulations Dovetail!!!

i think everyone who can afford 14.99 should have a go at it,

this is a brand NEW!!! 64bit platform!!! leading to the next generation of full blown Sim running 64bit!

its a milestone and as such we should all support the developer for their valiant efforts;

if not for a great product that it is for potential new pilots!

as mentioned prior; this is the base for the next full blown 64bit Sim; as well as a channel for prerelease feedback,

As one of the posters noted above I increased the LOD in cfg file to 12.000000. Looks way nicer with the better viewing radius. FPS dropped to about 40 from 70 but still smooth. Also memory went from 3.1gb to roughly 4.5 gb with indication it's at 45% of available memory so lots of headroom. Very excited when the full monty is implemented for release in the fall.

Anyone try an addon scenery?lol I tried LFBO Aerosoft and added it to scenery file but nothing.

High from above, flying at Angels 30, if you look down and around, there's a foggy view, you can't really see the ground bellow properly...

Maybe I should try that LOD 12 ?...

After playing this game for the last few days, and after a couple of crashes in the missions, and in free flight (losing all my recorded flight time!) I've decided to un-install the game!

The price, and the game is great for beginners...good luck to them, for me I'm happy with FSX SE until I can upgrade my modest PC, maybe next year.

Cheers,

Chris, I just installed and did a few night flights. I think the lights look a lot better than in FSX and P3D, at least that's my first impression. Night environment would look great in this, I think!

Oddly, Flight School does not run on my rig whereas FSX-SE does rather well.  I decided to get a refund since it was available only within a limited time.  It would have been helpful if the minimum system specs had been made available to potential purchasers.  I also found that the settings were were hard to find and there was no guidance available for changing them.  I could go on, but it seems that the product was released prematurely, perhaps without any beta testing that would have revealed deficiencies.

There is virtually no chance I would consider the full version of the sim based on my Flight School experience.  It appears that the marketplace is providing similar feedback, with only about half of purchasers giving favorable ratings.  That is very telling and the DTG team clearly has work to do if their sim is every going take flight.
