June 5, 201610 yr Since the day i bought X-Plane 10 on Steam, Every time i Start it i always get this on the Splash screen, It always starts though. I pick my Plane and Location, Click Ok and this happens, My fans rev up for a couple of seconds (maybe 5) and it starts then, No problem Is this really Normal? It doesn't happen with anything else i have X-System (Not Responding)
June 5, 201610 yr Yes, it does happen to me too. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
June 5, 201610 yr Must be a Steam thing ?.... Never happened on my rig - no Steam here... Maybe it's Steam trying to search for updates or doing a online validation of your copy ? June 5, 201610 yr Author Perfect Thank you, At least i now know its normal enough, Would love to know why it does it. As Jose said it must be a Steam thing, Kind of annoying though
June 5, 201610 yr Commercial Member It does happen often to me too, but on dvd version (no Steam here). Our web site: http://ats-simulations.com/ Our MD-82/83 Project Youtube channel: A.T.S. June 5, 20169 yr It's not a steam thing, it's the way X-Plane is. Unlike a lot of other software designed for Windows, it doesn't continually respond to polls by the operating system to check whether it's still 'active'. Although on my Windows 10 it doesn't work that way :-) But that's probably the cause yes - well seen Tom! Probably because it was and still is mainly developed on Mac OS. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit

Unlike a lot of other software designed for Windows, it doesn't continually respond to polls by the operating system to check whether it's still 'active'. I think it is also a general W7 observation. When recently installing and migrating to the new Orbx structure, and the Migration routine was opening and closing DOS windows...I would have the (Not Responding) mask come up...but the program never crashed, and worked to completion. Just, as you say, the OS in general.
June 7, 20169 yr Commercial Member OS in general yes, but not limited to W7 as it happen even with W8 (can't say about W10 as I don't use it). My apologies in advance if I misunderstood your post. June 7, 20169 yr Moderator This doesn't seem to happen in Mac OS X, but I have exactly the same problem with other games and sims when I run on Windows. They don't crash but will appear to hang with a "Not Responding" for a second or two before waking up (In fact this happens so often with certain Windows apps that I've stopped noticing it)
