ASCA Themes / REX Comparison Shots

Featured Replies

Switched from ASN + REX Soft Clouds to AS16 + ASCA and could not be happier.

On the arrival in EDDm yesterday there were some smaller thunderstorms - I had to change my approach to avoid those. I never had this before in P3D.

Also the visuals are very good.

I think it's stupid to complain about some screenshots and how "unrealistic" they are. Well, if you don't like it, don't buy it. simple as that.

But complaining without trying... like little schoolkids.

  • In my eyes clouds in every shot looks pretty awful, except in the AS16 + REX Soft Clouds shot. Can't explain exactly what is odd, but visually is miles behind ASN + REX. Looks like popcorn.

  • Hi guys!   Honestly it seems absurd that today, despite years of development, they have not yet been able to create more realistic texture, and all the images that are shown both on REX and HIFi Sim

  • I try not to be negative but to me those ASCA shots are dreadful.

To my knowledge, FEX for P3D hasn't been released yet for the general public. Where did these screens come from? I want them now!!! :-)

Fex 2.0.4 was released a few months ago and is compatible with P3D v3.3.5.

I happened to have it back from 2009, and was able to update it to this version. I was gobsmacked how good it looks in P3D. Even in my 2008 shots I looked at recently, taken in FSX Acceleration, FEX it looked far better than most of the shots I've seen here or could get myself even with REX TD4.

I have ASCA and AS16 and I now use FEX 2.0.4 with ASCA and AS16. It looks as good as it gets for me.

Not able to upload screenies right now due to lack of time but maybe soon...

If anyone still has FEX, give it a go - like to know what you think.

Been using FEX in P3D and was a lot better than REX. Use ASCA now. I think Rex is a little over rated IMHO

System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A,  Intel i9-14900KF,  Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. I use them ALL.... they ALL have something to offer.

Win-win etc :)

I agree

Maybe this results from using the academic version of P3d. ;-)

well, the video from Silicus shows the blueness that towering cumulus can get. its entirely possible with P3D but neither REX nor HiFi seem interested in putting that appearance into the sim.

I was under the impression that HiFi could place as many different textures into any one scene as they wanted so there shouldn't be repeating textures. Hopefully they can fix that.

I can see now why LM changed their program so much and I guess in the long run its a much better approach. Multi colored sunset clouds should also be possible with this approach but Ill leave it HiFi and REX to figure that one out.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about REX's new product line and also updates from hiFi. Its fun watching progress in the flight environment world.

There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
