I was thinking of buying EVO but all this chatting about monitor settings, SweetFX, Enb and whatever else has somehow put me off the idea.  Oh well, maybe that's not such a bad thing as I've been running FS2004 since the day it was released and never had any complaints - just one very satisfied bunny!

If you're NOT using at least sweetfx, you're missing out. I can't fly FSX/9 without it. If you haven't ever adjusted your monitor settings, you must be content with some average looking displays!

Once again ..... another example of over projection of personal opinion to include the masses.

There is nothing "average" about my display WITHOUT sweetfx ..... and FSX for that matter .... but that's another issue.

I was in a plane not too long ago and when I looked out the window there was no sweetfx! Maybe I should fly with a different airline next time??? lol

Don't knock it until you've tried it...and tweaked it.

And out the window the plane I was in, looked nothing like fs9,,,until I sweetfxed it.

 

 

 

Regardless of textures or platform I use, I find it superior to use some form of enhancement. As most do.

Dijvid, there is absolutely no reason not to use FS9Evo without any ENB or SweetFX. I don't use them, too (not only that I didn't like the look, but also I had appalling flickering and colour effects with SweetFX), but the look of Evo is still fantastic in my eyes. As I wrote above, you can have a look at a FS9Evo-Sim just with HDEv2 clouds and FE9 sky textures in my screenshot threads, and I think they don't look that bad...

Oh, and I did try SweetFx when it first came to light but decided that I didn't need it.

It was worth it just for the sharpening to get rid of that horrible blur FS9 had.

 

Nice example here. Old post. Nor mine. But gives a small hint of the possibilities of improvement over an average looking sim without it.

Good examples! I have made a series of screenshots in which I have consecutively added effects which I'll post in a new thread.

Are you "selling" the virtues of EVO .... or have you decided to bandwagon SweetFX?  Which is the greater in your mind?  Why take all this time to deflect interest from YOUR baby?

I don't get your negativity. Anything new for Fs9 is a win as far as I'm concerned.

 

If it bothers you so much when somebody makes the effort to release what looks like a MAJOR improvement on fs9 textures, just ignore the posts and be happy with what you have....whatever that is.

I am NOT anti-EVO.  It is just one of many fine upgrades to our great FS2004.  I just didn't care for it on my system presently.  That is always subject to change..  My main heartburn, as well as apparently others, is the emphasis being taken on the topics of SweetFx, ENB et al. when it comes to showing screenshots for comparison of other like products.

Hey .... I paid for and downloaded EVO  I'd rather the topic remain on that product as I'm interested to "see" and hear about its improvements.  That's all ..... no conspiracy here.  Now please give me a minute to try to come to grips with the concept of a flying thong .....

You should try a thong next time you fly. The best enhancement you can make.

Hey thong! I know from reading a little from your few posts you are here to set all us FS users on the right path to a better FS. But, the examples from the link you provided are no good. I'm not great with all things FS or real flying either but I know the screens are no good. If my FS looked like that I would play train games instead. :smile:

Actually most use it and already have a better FS. And I guess it was too difficult for you too see what it can do.
