Did you install Python to your operating system before installing the Python Interface?

If no, I ask myself, why you don't follow the god damned manual?

Do you still need help Mitch?

Hi Bruce...

I had the Python v2.7 installed.

I have all that's required in XP for it to be picked up

Nothing...

I then uninstalled Python 2.7, and installed the  3.4 latest version. Rebooted the system.

Ran XP.  No Python drop down...

So...don't know what else there is to do...

Everything that should be in XP Plugins...is there.   Perhaps, Python simply does not work in my installation?!?

All my other plugins work as they should...including RTH, but of course, they don't need Python....

Hi Mitch,

Here's my procedure-  it gets complicated with so many file sources..

I had SkyMaxx 3.2 already. The first thing i did was to add the new sky colors and enable them in SkyMaxx.

I had never installed the NOAA plug-in before. I installed Python into the default location of "Mac HD" (I can see it in the "Applications" folder).

I then installed the downloaded folder "PythonInterface" into my plug-ons folder in XP. There was no PythonScripts folder in my XP plug-ins folder so I made one.

I then moved the folder "noaweather" and the file "Pl_noaaweather.py" (both were included in the downloaded folder "joanpc-XplaneNoaaWeather-6e812ca" that I downloaded) into the folder "PythonScripts" that I had just created (above) in my "Plug-ins" folder in XP. I could see the NOAA weather plugin in XP, and selected "Always" in the control panel as specified.

I then installed the FlyWithLua add-on to my Plug-ins folder in XP, and added the script "Ventura_Sky_v1.1" to the "Spripts" folder inside FlyWithLua.

I then purchased and ran the installer for RealWeatherConnector from Aviation and can see it within the SkyMaxx and Python Interface plugins in XP."

Good luck... note that i already had SkyMaxx Prov3.2 installed, but only that.

Hi Bruce...

Thanks for that.   DId all that you did.  I don't have the NOAA Weather drop down, nor the Python Interface drop down.  I reinstalled Python v2.7 again...and still nothing. So...I have no idea why Python does NOT work on my XP installation/system...but it does not.  So, back to RTH, I guess.  It would have been nice to try this...

Mitch -

Doing this from memory so hope I didn't miss anything.

In the PlugIn folder you need to create a PythonScripts folder.  Then place the NOAA folder, and the .py file in the PythonScripts folder.

Also make sure you have either Python 2.6 or 2.7 installed.

Thank you for help.. :)   Much appreciated

Did you add python to your windows system path?

Mitch, if you have Windows, Joan offers a full installer of all components of the NOAA plugin (I have a Mac so I can't make use of it). FYI.

Thank you very much Bruce for sticking with me here !!!!  :))))

I tried that...I have been to Python sites, I have GOOGLED   'Python does not work in XP..."   "No NOAA or Python drop down menus in XP"....all of it...and still can't get Python, or more to the point,  XP to find it...run with it...whatever. I'm just going to delete it all,  uninstall Python v2.7, and be done with it.  For whatever reason,  XP on my system will not call Python...with all the Python scripts where they should be.   Thanks again...and glad to see that it is obviously working for you, and some others...  Good go!

Cheers,

Mitch

Did you add python to your windows system path?

Uh...hmmm...I used the Python v2.7 msi installer, and only did that.   Did that not place python where it should be, on my system?  If not...how do you do the system's path part?   I did nothing 'manually' with installing v2.7....

Could this be why XP does not address it?   Can you walk me through this part...and thanks!

It's an option when you install, you have to check a box.  Or you can manually add it by using windows search for "environment variables".  Click that and add the path.  I added both "i:\python27\" and "i:\python27\scripts\".

Mitch:

Did you do this?

I can't specify where on a PC the Python stuff goes.

Yes Bruce,  the NOAA folder and the py single script file is inside the Python Scripts Folder.  When I run XP, all my other plugs show...but nothing from NOAA and anything to do with Python.  In the Plugin Admin screen, there is no mention of either NOAA or Python...everything else reports as enabled.  I don't understand quite frankly, now on other's this works, but does not show on mine. I even watched a hand-hold vid on youtube...in 'how' to install the NOAA plug in...and I did exactly as that dictated. In the vid, he shows XP with the drop down menu...and he has the two; NOAA and PYTHON, blah, blah.   Mine...nada....

And you have also downloaded the Python Interface folder and installed it in the XP Plugins folder too?

Oh...ok...let me try the msi again...and see if I have that box...or will address this manually...thanks!

It's all there. :)

I tried the installer msi again...and there was an option, add python.exe to path. I enabled that.   It finished, I tried XP again...and nothing NOAA or Python.  Bust....Thanks everybody for all your ideas.  Some you win...some you lose.

Cheers!
