Ventura Sky 1.0 released for X-Plane 10.50!

Recommended Posts

I can use FSGRW?

Nope, not yet but I believe I read somewhere compatibility might be possible in the future.

After enabling the visibility mode in the Ventura Sky 1.2 script, there's a contant message in-game about "Try extended visibility etc..."

How can I remove this?

I haven't seen that message with Extended Visibility enabled....that is odd!

I would like to increase extended visibility even further. Is it enough to only change the "vis_limit_distance_m" option? Also if I would prefer to reach 100nm of visibility before the FL400, but instead at FL330. How can I achieve this?

That will do yes. Keep in mind though that the scattering variables are optimized for 24nm (in extended mode), so they might need adjustment - it should be ok though.

Look for the variable alt_gain_factor, it gets set twice, once for reference mode and once for extended mode. Edit the one within the same block as vis_limit_distance_m (if you only want to edit the extended mode, edit the ones within extended_mode ==1). In extended mode, it's 4.5 ... try 4.0 or 3.5 for more gain.

This is the block to edit for both variables:

--set parameters for extended mode

if extended_mode == 1 then

--post mode

mode = "Extended (24nm)"

-- the visibility limit within deployment height in meters

vis_limit_distance_m = 44400

--atmospheric scattering variables at daytime

scattering_loalt_day = 10

raleigh_blue_loalt_day = 20

raleigh_red_loalt_day = 5

--atmospheric scattering variables at daytime at hialt

scattering_hialt_day = 5

raleigh_blue_hialt_day = 20

--atmospheric scattering variables at twilight

scattering_loalt_twilight = 5

raleigh_blue_loalt_twilight = 12.5

scattering_hialt_twilight = 2

raleigh_blue_hialt_twilight = 15

--atmospheric scattering variables at sunset / sunrise

raleigh_red_loalt_sunset = 10

--atmospheric scattering variables for low visibility

scattering_lowvis = 5

raleigh_blue_lowvis = 15

--factor of altitude gain above transition layer (set lower integer for more gain)

alt_gain_factor = 4.5

end

Thank you. I will try to test some of$

Another question though. Let's say I increase the distance to something bigger. Should I then increase the gain factor to not exceed 100nm, or is the 100nm a pre-set limit that Ventura Sky won't exceed?

It will eventually exceed 100nm...

Rob, is it possible to somehow modify the whiteness of the cloud, akin to what RTH does? I added some brightness via MaxxFX and ReShade, so the clouds can get a bit too white. Would love to tone it down a bit.

Try to play with the SMP settings file, there are all kinds of variables, not all are active in X-Plane though. Within X-Plane, there's no way to mess with SMP clouds.

Forgive my ignorance, but what manual?
