October 6, 20169 yr I had been using Steve's Dx10 since it came out. I was happy with it until I installed the Maddog VC mod. I knew that the maddog was heavy on fps, and with my i5-2500k at 4.4 and a new gtx 1060, I could only get 17 fps, regardless of the various settings. Additionally, I was not happy with the scenery. Something was not right. When I reverted to dx9, I was surprised to find that I can hold a steady 30 fps with AA settings of 8xSQ and extreme scenery settings in FSX. A 12 fps difference is what made me go back to dx9. tony
October 7, 20169 yr Hi Simmers Maybe you could help me out with some hints, PLEASE! I have FSX and FSX-SE installed on different computers. The computer with SE is using win8.1 and of course dx11. I also would like SE to go back to dx9 so all aircraft would display properly, etc. So I turn off dx10 preview mode but this requires a FSXse restart. Alas, It won't boot up at all with DX10=0 in the config file. Help, please, any ideas would be appreciated? Thank you in advance......
October 7, 20169 yr Author The cleanest method to switch to dx9 is to delete the fsx.cfg and restart fsx. tony
October 8, 20169 yr Hello again and thanks for your suggestions. I've done the delete cfg trick many times in old fsx days but forgot it this time. So I tried it in my fsxse after setting dx10 in the program settings to off. The sim started to make a new cfg on reboot but couldn't and quit. So I copied back my previous cfg and away she went with d3d10=1 in the cfg. I guess I'm just stuck with 10?
October 8, 20169 yr Doesn't the fixer alter the shader library or something like that, so you've got to reset that as well? October 8, 20169 yr Did you run the DX10 Fixer and use it to revert to DX9? Perhaps the Fixer is preventing the return to DX9 Neal Howard
October 8, 20169 yr Hi again guys Another thanks for your concerns. I don't have the Dx10 fixer installed just a plain FSXse with some Orbx and additional aircraft installed. A mystery why it doesn't rebiuld the fsx.cfg after deleting it?
October 9, 20169 yr A mystery why it doesn't rebiuld the fsx.cfg after deleting it? You didn't delete it. You most likely deleted fsx.txt. FSX/FSX-SE makes a fsx.txt file whenever one has a crash.
