December 1, 20169 yr And don't forget that for the beta, rendering optimization is not complete so performance is likely to improve. Yep! That's the amazing part... Was actually quite surprised that it ran that well Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471
December 1, 20169 yr I'd be interested to see that area default with the new European autogen. The new EU autogen works very nicely in the countries where it resembles the building style they chose as template. The problem is that in Europe this style changes quite dramatically when you move a few hundred miles. So what looks great at LOWI looks quite out of place at LFMN. A solution could be to have three sets of autogen for Europe, like North/Central/South. From a distance it is not bad though. Hans
December 1, 20169 yr I downloaded Stewart CZST N55 W129 @work and the CZST in XP is giving me N55 W130 and i can't see it :( almost 3-4GB Now I am @55 -129 and i can't see my scenery damn. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

What we are looking for is any sim, pumping out at least 25fps on a mid range system with any weather. Flying is about weather impact on visual and airplane primary, then visuals. XP11 clouds seem to drop frames alot.. I dont understand developpers anymore, didnt they test themselves ?

I recall Ben did apologize in the presentation for making Europe look like Germany, and he did mention that third party developers will be able to diversify autogen, what they did is only a first style, it is possible to diversify and divide autogen style by regions in Europe... December 1, 20169 yr anyone doing Ortho scenery using Ortho4xp ? i can't seem to see my CZST Z17 Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
December 1, 20169 yr i can't seem to see my CZST Z17 You sure that it is properly enabled in the scenery_packs.ini? I have Ortho4XP open. I can try making the tile and see if it is working. Is it 129 or 130? Hans
December 1, 20169 yr BUT, there's no one alive that should think that the middle P3D shot looks better than the bottom XP shot. It's not even close. Not even in the same universe. Absolutely, but there is something very wrong with that P3D shot, as its not displaying any tree autogen, or enough buildings for the settings the op claimed to be using. I'm not going to waste time getting an exact match, but when running properly P3D certainly looks a little better than the other picture gives it credit for. I chose spring season to better match XP's single season. The fact is both sims look good (or maybe bad  ) and I am very happy to run both for different reasons. BTW this is using FTX Global and Open LC, but not Vector.

Yep it was showing up in the scenery pack both Hervey Bay and Stewart never showed during the flight Hervey bay downloading i left it @home and Stewart from work ;( Google maps says 55 -129 but XP shows 55 130. But i am anyways not good with numbers I am going to do Hervey again 2day will leave the downloading the whole night. Please do stewart and tell me if it shows up in the flight Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
December 1, 20169 yr there is something very wrong with that P3D shot I didn't touch Prepar3D for days, FTX Central got another update and now I have irritating visuals in some regions but not all. Do you have EuropeLC as well? Hans
December 1, 20169 yr I didn't touch Prepar3D for days, FTX Central got another update and now I have irritating visuals in some regions but not all. Do you have EuropeLC as well? Yes, I have Open LC but not Vector. There does appear to be something wrong with either your Orbx install or P3D as it is clearly not displaying autogen correctly, and therefore gives a very poor comparison. Nothing wrong with comparing sims, but they do have to display similar settings or content, which can vary wildly depending on the products available. Ideally it needs the same product, of which there are a few, but there is nothing really to prove, as they both visually have strengths and weaknesses. I like them both myself.
December 1, 20169 yr but they do have to display similar settings Absolutely, and the last I want to do is make one sim look better or the other worse. There have been quite some people having strange P3D issues after ORBX had introduced their new Central. The last time I did a complete reinstall. This time I un- and reinstalled Global, Vector and LC. More work to do I guess, but will also compare the LFMD shot without Vector. In the meantime, I made orthos for Washington state and will make another set around Bowerman. Hans

True, if it were for the clouds alone, you'd think X-Plane developers were blind. Their intention is to do a total overhaul of the weather engine, but I'd surprised if it happens before X-Plane 12. Fortunately the default weather engine has some flexibility (in XP11 more so than in XP10) and can be improved somewhat both in visuals and performance. But the developer already announced that there will be some changes in the clouds in the next betas, so we have to wait a little before we can expect a stable weather environment that can be tweaked. BTW this is using FTX Global and Open LC, but not Vector. It's better, but still has all the normal P3D warts with the swirls of city ground textures, autogen draw distance limits, and the sharp edges between textures including how airports are incorporated into the surrounding scenery. The XP shot looks much more modern and is a much clearer representation. I really hope Dovetail is going to attempt to modernize some of this stuff with the FSX engine, but I'm not that confident they will.
