Xplane 11 beta, I'm impressed...

Featured Replies

AA is still an issue for me in XP11. I can get rid of most of it using the highest AA setting, but this (together with high HDR) involves a framerate hit. Dialing it back two notches or so fps are acceptable (~30 fps) but shimmering gets disturbing. That shimmering is not unlike what we've seen in earlier P3D versions and to a degree is still present in P3D without NI SGSS.

This is using an EVGA GTX 970 4GB, 3440x1440 30Hz monitor.

Kind regards, Michael

Michael i have aliasing on maximum with reflections to minimal (still give reflections) and all the rest maximum, im getting good performance, maybe you wanna try to reduce reflections to min.

Thanks for the info pilot83.

Then we only need seasons which will probably come within months and that's it!

Austin Meyer said in a Interview that Laminar approach to seasons will be very different to MFS series, with shaders If I am not mistaken. This approach is very ambitious.

Tomás Fabada Castellana

since you want to go there.

I really bloody didn't. I wanted to show a better comparison to the pictures shown (with faulty autogen) but wish I hadn't. Oh and Edit::: three addons FTX Global, Open LC and PTA. So, three addons and not hundreds.

I agree with a lot, if not all your points, although I do like the blue haze :P which I see often in RL and a lot of XP10 (RTH) shots too ;). XP11 is very nice, and the more time I spend with it the more I like it. I still think P3D does some (a lot) things better, but I really DON'T CARE. I am a multi platform user, not a single sim hardcore fanboi, which I hate. For me XP feels a bit sterile, and Lego like, whereas P3D feels more organic and natural, if a little rough. Right now I'm off to fly with Aerofly, which is a toy, but I love it....... and from now on I will take no further part in sim X v Sim Y comparisons, as they never end well.

Peace, love and happiness

In short: we still have a few decades to go LOL (and seeing these screenshots almost make me lose hope I will see a real good sim in my lifetime).

Sorry to say Jeroen but you really do seem impossibly difficult to please sometimes  . About the best you are likely to get in any sim at this present time are color-matched, ortorectified photoscenery with matching objects overlayed. Others including myself have provided you with a few examples of how to get nice scenery with perfectly matching buildings which you can get for free for large parts of Norway and you either found it too colourful and didn't like the trees sticking out of the ground or it was too hard to install. I'm not really sure what else I can say, but it would seem that you have a lot invested in P3D and ORBX and are seeing it through the same eyes that I am probably seeing XP11 through (Having invested a lot of my time with it). You can't force yourself to like XP11, you either love it or hate it

The X-Plane 11/Norway Pro version looks far more like Bergen to me (apart from the weather, and I've spent quite some time there in real life). It's still not very good, but it's certainly more believable in my eyes (which may be under the influence of my own XP reality distortion field).

Edit: I see you did finally try Ortho4XP and got it working :-)

I get about 20fps here in XP11 and ~30 in XP10. This is the new Norway Pro in v11, it should be out by the time XP11 hits stable but it's not a major upgrade over the current one. It's hard to see in the screenshot, but the buildings are more accurately placed and there are also some landmarks dotted around like Bryggen and some docked cruise ships etc.

Cool. I guess by then XP11 will be bit more optimized as I run "Number of World Objects To Max" though it's like 10 fps but it also depends on the region and if you are using your own optimized stuff then should still get better right.

Ha ha, let's be honest, we both have rubbish computers and need better hardware ;-)
