I hope one day XP 11 has these clouds

Featured Replies

I love XP 11 and realize it is in beta, and I love tremendously so far.

These are not default clouds in P3D, they are REX.

I hope a developer will jump on board with XP and create some great clouds.

Thank you, and as much as I love P3D, it has nothing on XP 11 beta when it comes to night lighting.

The daytime shadows also bend around rooftops, etc...

Or those in IL2 Battle of Stalingrad, which even form cloud streets!

Sad but true, I think even the default clouds in FSX/P3D look better than X-Plane's. XP11 and clouds is a no-go for me, my sim will drop to about 5fps once I have them.

And there's not even by far all types there should be, nor the corresponding effects, as in ASN...

Always the same mistake, comparing default XP with REX or ASN or whatever.

Put SMP on, choose dense particles and you can get better close up screenshots. The problem is that the rest of the wather is not on par with clouds looking and FPS suffers heavily to have a decent coverage.

So I'd say the problem are not clouds but the rest of the weather depiction.

SMP for all of it's flaws has clouds that look much better than that.

xEnviro produces some very immersive clouds, and other atmospheric and weather effects. And its performance hit is very small , in most conditions, fps are better than what you get with default clouds!

It should also be noted that while REX clouds do, in fact, look great, they suffer from the same up close billboarding as default FSX clouds, and even xEnviro, based on what I've read.
