I think there are no touch down smoke on X-Life, only in World Traffic but maybe I'm wrong. For sure I can see them with WT v2 and SkyMaxx, not always because the animation trigger does not work everytime.

For waht I read 9 out of 10 Xplane (me included) users left FSX for exactly the opposite reason.

Cmon, I don't think they need more emails about weather and seasons. Everywhere in XP forums you read about complains about cloud FPS, few layers, basic depiction of complex cloud formations, not to mention how much people is tired of flying everytime in summer. Don't get me wrong, on theory I like more detailed default aircrafts but in practice who cares about those, almost all XP users buy payware aircrafts, I think they should invest resources where people would expect bigger jumps forward.

No changes on weather system is a big disappointment. I hope they just kept something for later announcement because looking at REX news for other platform we risk to stay several steps behind. Weather depiction and trees looking is what should be improved for sightseeing.

Anybody had the chance to hear him talking about XP future?

Could be the poor automatic translation but I see no timeline, just speculation. With new interested brought by IXEG and PMDG it would be really nice if REX could announce something regarding weather, but hopes are dim since strangely they abandoned XP10 even with a good product already developed for XP9.

EPWA Warsaw and TALLIN both payware are two masterpiece in my opinion. I bought both during black friday's discount session and It's a pleasure to fly there. Regarding freeware there are great sceneries (apart from the org) at XPFR xplane france site, some are unmissable like Marseille and les Isles de la Societè http://xpfr.org/?body=scene_accueil&sc=310 http://xpfr.org/?body=scene_accueil&sc=166

If it wasn't for the demo though, I would still struggle with FSX. It let me enjoy the great lighting system of X-Plane and the, now unmissable, better deepness of field of view, at least for my perception of a 3D environment. I even bought PR3D but eventually asked money back after the trial period because of what I consider a more gamey view. It was version 2.3 IIRC and it could be that new version 3 is much better. Of course weather is still lacking realism in X-Plane, that should be the main focus of the LR team right now. Distance weather is still way inferior to Pr3D with ASN or OPUSFX addons

Have you tried REAL TERRA HAZE plugin. It lets you play with near and far lights intensity and bloom.

Probably new WED version is more strict on layout checks. Anyway merging the two nodes is not difficult, you find them in the lower right window when you perform the duplicate check. CTRL+SHIFT+M will merge them when highlighted. Let's hope it's not the first of many error... Be aware that WED is quite addictive, after discovering how easy was to change and editing scenery I have now scored more time developing new scenery than flying. Not good...

With that video card I could not update nvidia drivers over 388.77 (IIRC). Anything newer and stutters appeared.

Nturally payware products come with their own installer, I have no complain if a freeware scenery doesn't. I think that the scenery ini file is the same as FSX. It's a simple bottom to top list of sceneries: mesh goes to the bottom, libraries in the middle, scenery to the top. X-Organizer helps a lot managing the files. Regarding W2xp and ortho4XP I don't think they're mandatory to enjoy the sim, I tried once W2XP but fps took a huge hit. Anyway is this the right section for such a post?

Have you downloaded the last installer from LR site, I remember I had similar problems. I selected new area but after installing there were simply not present.

You need to run the Xplane installer and then select the area you like to fly in in the world map. No need to install all dvds
