December 6, 200520 yr I cant say I had high expectations for this small and unknown program but after hearing many positive comments took a chance.I also did not expect the drastic difference Atmosphere had on the overall look of the sim. I figured I would have to look hard for any changes but as soon as I opened a flight at noon, I instantly saw a positive change. It actually looked like a bright sunny day should. Everything was much brighter. Gone was that dull filtered sunlight but it wasnt washed out as if you simply turned up your brightness on your monitor. The morning and evening are equally as different. Not just the horizon as I expected but the entire area is bathed in color. The evening I saw was a warm reddish color. Some may or may not like the overall evening and morning color effects but it is a nice change.Overall I am pleased with the changes and especially the day atmoshere brightness. The program just does not change the skyline, sunset or rises but the entire "atmoshere" colors, brightness and feeling.I say if you are looking for a nice change, its worth the $10 to give it a try.
December 6, 200520 yr Do you have active sky and/or flight environment? How does it interact with these two?ricardo
December 6, 200520 yr Can you open a post in the screenshots forum with some example shots? Would even love to see before/after if that is possible.-John
December 6, 200520 yr I have everything running. ASV,Flight Enviroment,BEV,UT ect.One thing I want to find out is if I make changes to FE,will it replace the textures from Atmosphere. As is I just use FE's dxt3 cloud textures.Ive only had a few flights and so far so good.Cant do a screenshot but I do not think you could really see any difference. Maybe 2 side by side but say for example a static plane would just look brighter during mid day. But in the sim, the entire area, sky, ground, cockpit and external model all are brighter. As my flight continued, everything took on a bluish, green color later getting darker into the tans and reds.Kinda hard to explain, just got to see it.
December 6, 200520 yr Is there a website link to the program so we could look it over? I would be interested in this. Does this fix the 10mi grey haze problem? I only would like the gray haze if it is overcast. I sure would like to see the difference, between this and fsskyworld 2004.
December 6, 200520 yr The 10 mi gray haze is a MSFS issue--no fixing that I am afraid without being able to recode that part of the MSFS display engine (for those who don't understand, when you chop vis from 20 miles to 10 in FS2004, the sky turns gray). Some shots exist at Simmarket of the product.-John
December 6, 200520 yr Here is the link to the product on simmarket:http://secure.simmarket.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=1524ricardo
December 6, 200520 yr Commercial Member It's called FS Atmosphere and can be found at FSimmarket. They have screenshots there. They look nice. Nothing Earth shattering but again maybe you do need to experience them on your own rig. The high noon does look to be a bit bright or have more contrast. Appears to be another nice set that one could choose for variety. Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11), EVGA 1300W PSUNetgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displaysFull array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.
December 6, 200520 yr I'm in two minds about it. On the one hand, the skies and clouds are very much improved. The skies look as though they extend much further into the distance and the clouds look much more like 3D objects with shape and depth. Yet, on the other hand, I don't like the way in which the world is bathed in various hues of light. I understand the effect the developer is aiming for but the colours are too saturated and the intensity too strong, in my opinion. If the lighting is toned down and the colours made more subtle, then FSAtmosphere would be a must-have add-on in my books.
December 7, 200520 yr Yes, I just got it.I have Flight environment installed also.I am most impressed with the colors, and brightness.Overall a warm feeling is created. It is not chromatic, but rather like dinner over a candle, softer.I guess we all really see things a bit different. Sunsets have been painted by all the masters, and they are all different. Our eyes interpret colors often different as to what they really are, then again what are they really?,But seriously,a nice addition, and the price is right. CHEERS! VIN :-sun1
December 7, 200520 yr Got a reply from the developer about making changes to other programs like FS Enviroments. He say you will need to re install if you make changes. Im assuming for example you change the sunsets, cloud colors or use the randomizer via FE, it will over write the textures from Atmosphere. No real biggie since its just one click to install. I couldnt even find a readme file or folder for it.
December 7, 200520 yr Commercial Member Yea, I think FE is planning to allow you to choose 3rd party textures for things like water and skies. (sort of like BEV just did for ground textures). Think it's to be with their version 2 which I am waiting on to check out. December 7, 200520 yr Hi,Right here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=147Because it is in the last sub-group on the Forums page and you didn't look there. But once you know where it is, it is very easy to find.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
December 7, 200520 yr Jimjam, just out of pure curiosity I had to try this. Haven't got time now to fly, but I fired up my current Texas tour and skewed up to have look. Wow Jimjam (love your nickname btw, have to write it often), this is some improvement! Unlike another post here I think the hue bath is very lifelike. Last fall I was in a music store, and everyone in the shop went outside just to look at the light. It was evening just before sunset, thunder kind of weather, an the city had a fantastic pinkish hue. Also, this time of year, we have something we call "the blue hour", I guess you've all seen it.If I get the time to fly this evening I'll continue my Texas tour, maybe I'll post some pictures then. Here's a shot from the skew test. Thanks a lot for the tip Jimjam!(Jimjamjimjamjimjamjimjamjimjamjimjamjimjamjimjamjimjam he he :))http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135178.jpgFyi: Installed in this order: FSGenesis Mesh and landclass/UT USA/BEV/Flight1 Flight Environment/Lennarts Textures/FS AthmosphereEagle
