December 7, 200520 yr In my early flying days, a linemen started calling me JIMJAM. My real name is Jim. Ask him why and he replied that was the name of Speedracer's monkey. Never watched it but but anyways it stuck so thats the story.Overall I like Atmosphere but there are some things that I feel could use some tweeking. I was flying the LVL D 767 at dawn with some ground lights still on and the sun was just starting to peak over the horizon. The the vr cockpit really lit up and was BRIGHT. Im not going to complain too much because it seems to me all the VR cockpits are brighter and I always felt they were way to dark.I think everyone will like the brighter days where you can really see terrain and building details you never noticed. Although some of the morn, evening textures might be a little overdone for some people.
December 7, 200520 yr I'm just curious: why do you install Lennart's textures over/after BEV? Wouldn't this destroy BEV's textures?Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. Respice, lector: In nihil ab nihilo quam cito recidimus.
December 7, 200520 yr BEV is more than textures, it's also very much an autogen enhancement. Beside that I think BEV includes more textures than Lennarts, but I'm not sure of this.Anyway, I just did, and it looks better than any combo I've had earlier:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...18707&mode=fullEagle
December 7, 200520 yr Hi JIMJAM,Off-topic, but just wanted to say I appreciated your mini-review of Carenado's C206 in another thread. Having been a fan of their T-34 and C182, I didn't hesitate to get the C206, but it seemed a bit unresponsive when I flew it. Having never flown the real one before, I wasn't sure what to think. Your comments cleared a lot of things up. I continue to be impressed with Carenado's flight modeling.On-topic, I tried out FS Atmosphere on your recommendation. I agree 100 percent with your assessment. A lot of bang for very few bucks. Thanks!Ken
December 8, 200520 yr Some shots with FS Athmosphere. Although the focus may be more on London and the Spitfire ...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...19875&mode=fullEagle
December 8, 200520 yr Then you might like these shots I took of the Stationair at dawn on a flight to Dresden...I saw this thread and had to check this program out....really nice!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135205.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135206.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135207.jpg
December 8, 200520 yr HOWDY PARDNER!! Great stuff, Eagle.Hope alls OK with you? Find your mountain yet? "Happy Yule Tide,Merry Christmas to ya! VIN! :-wave
December 8, 200520 yr Hi Vin!Eh ... yesterday I decided to end my Texas tour and search trough the old Texas thread for some other tips, I remember there were several suggestions that looked interresting :). So I'll take the 777 to another part of USA where I can switch back to VFR flying. Since I haven't found Big Rock Candy Mountains I have to work late today, no flying :(.Remember this line from the old Hobo-song?:"They hung the jerk that invented work in the Big Rock Candy Mountains."God Jul :-wave Eagle
December 8, 200520 yr The second shot, that Cessna looks 100% real. Don't know how much FS Athmosphere has to do with it, the plane looks good without too I guess ...Eagle
December 8, 200520 yr JIMJAMYou may be interested to know that 'Jimjams' are also an old-fashioned British nickname for pyjamas. In days of yore when people wore slippers, smoked pipes and had a cup of cocoa before going up the wooden hill to 'Bedfordshire...'You probably have to live in Blighty and be of a certain age to know that. :)Ian
December 8, 200520 yr >The second shot, that Cessna looks 100% real. Don't know how>much FS Athmosphere has to do with it, the plane looks good>without too I guess ...>>EagleWell, the Carenado craftsmanship with this model, along with Active Sky does help ;)But this is a pretty neat program. Perhaps a bit heavy handed (satutrated) outside the cockpit in some situations, but not quite as dramatic when you are inside. It does add allot of depth the the whole image quality. The one aspect that this program really 'highlights' is reflections. As I was flying the Stationair I looked out my side window, looked up, and saw the cloud reflections (from below) scroll by on the underside of the wing, which adds to a sense of movement. Now, it was raining, so I don't know if this program 'knows' whether the suraface is wet and provides additional reflection, or this is typical in all situations. Also very noticeable on the outside...the reflections on the surfaces and glass (especially) is enhanced. Again, adding to the depth of the overall image.Have only used it for one night in these conditions, but I think it's a 'keeper'. It does add 'something' that enriches the overall 'feel' of the scenery/objects around you, and provides an overall depth to the image quality I find attractive. And I do think the lighting quality is probably a bit more lifelike, albeit a bit over satuarted in some instances.Worth the small amount this program costs.
December 8, 200520 yr >"They hung the jerk that invented work in the Big Rock Candy>Mountains." :-hang FUNNY!! I had a chance to fly over the"ALPS",some road bumps!.I was impressed, however with the "Apennine Mts." in Italy.Never did realized how rugged they are. But ,I found my mountain, that is "MT. Vesuvius",in Naples Italy. It was in my fathers back yard all the time, literally, Most impressive ,I must admit. We all know flying into a mountain can be hazardous to your health,But this mountain can come and get you. If I can recall, during the 2nd World War,1944,I think?,B-25s,were stationed at the base of this "VOLCANO" .The mountain blew its top,and destroyed more planes on the ground than the ##### did. Well, keep looking! and a "VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU" VIN :-sun1
December 8, 200520 yr How does this work with Flight Environment? I frequently use FE's randomizer tool, which, I assume, would overwrite FS Atmosphere's textures? I couldn't find a way in FE that would allow you to randomize only, say, water and cloud textures. ricardo
December 8, 200520 yr HiJust downloaded FSatmosphere. Trying to install the program, I am ask for a serial number !!I don't se any serial number. Can you enlighten me?RegardsHenrik KorningBGGH
