you're not excluding anyone. Most outfits post both downloadable or CD purchase, and charge more for the CD (shipping handling materials cost burning cost). You've already got the CD, now it's a matter of making a downloadable version? Why not market through Flight1 or SimMarket? The obvious incremental sales should cover the costs and more. Then again, I haven't gotten as far as marketing anything, so perhaps the costs are higher than I imagine to sell through those two outfits. But the support costs go down, 'cause they handle the "I can't download it" issues.Thomas

1) there is one beta tester that is really after #1. we'll see. progressive taxi instructions, doubtful2) that's actually coded today, but we don't have enough localized controllers for specfic regions. you lose the reality, if you have the same ground, tower, departure, center, arrival, tower, ground controller voice. and before someone says it, yeah, southern missy in france takes away from the realism too. eventually we'll get there. but it wasn't worth holding up the release to get every voice we wanted for every section of the world. it will be an incremental improvement3) when something comes out that is 99.999% accurate, i'll start considering it. it's not there. i tried.jd

Ok,Bobsk8 and JD sold me on this; I didn't even think I needed another ATC besides the default. After I checked out the demo on the website, it was more immersive...and I don't think it is to robotic at all. (Ever listen to real live atc feeds?) It really put me in that environment...I'll be ordering my copy as soon as my wallet recovers from my TrackIR 4 and my son's ipod purchase. ;-)

I guess I'll make it work generally with Shoot much faster than you think, quite easy. The trick is to make them sound realistic or at least resembling radiocomms.

As others observed before me, I looked and listened to one of their demos (London-Paris) and I must say that the slow and generic/artificial voices put me off. The much more real procedures etc. don

jd,> but we don't have enough localized controllers for specfic regions. you lose the reality, if you have the same ground, tower, departure,>center, arrival, tower, ground controller voice. it's not hard to notice the huge amount of wav files necessary to be recorded. Just wondering, could that be put on a more regional basis to reduce the amount ?If I would record a voiceset with German accent, it's maybe not necessary to speak all airline names. Just as an example, a regional Rocky Mountains airline would probably never show up in Germany.Or I could easily record 20 additional German Airport names. But what sense would it make to speak all 47 American Airport names, since no one would use my voice for American flights.Mike

Beta tester for SIMStarter

I also wasn't enthusiastic about the voices in the demo, but I ordered and am glad I did. On my speakers it definitely sounds better than in the demo. There are many voices to select and you surely find something more "cosy" for your ear taste. And it all works so well, after a few flights you don't even notice the voices itself anymore. And hey, there are also simmers like us behind that voices, that alone makes them sympathic. It's an excellent piece of software, shouldn't be missed.Mike
