that's something that we'll have to evaluate if we want to do. if it is progressive taxi vs. something many more people would appreciate, we'll lean towards the most bang for the buck.doesn't everyone start up on the active ;-) just kidding. couldn't resist.jd

I had been reading the manual and eagerly waiting on the release. Then I played the non-downloadable demo and to be completly honest was really turned off, enough so to cross RC4 off my XMAS list, so to speak. Then I tried the downloadable demo and found it wasn't quite as bad. After reading the support forums go back and forth I decided that the "substance" was much more important to me than the "fluff". In addition, I got the feeling that the developers were listening to what was being said and would really make an effort to improve the product. I also reasoned that even if they didn't, there are more than enough smart folks out there who would improve and post new sound sets. Since receiving the product a few days ago I have been more than satisfied with RC4. I even had a couple small glitches on my system that the RC4 folks quickly helped me rectify. As Mike stated, the voices themselves are a non-issue at this point. This is clearly a must have FS9 enhancement.Happy flying.BradKELP/KBIF http://home.elp.rr.com/bmbanister/BannerSig_BMBanister.jpgAMD Athlon XP 2600, Asus A7V600, 1GB PC3200 DDR, NVidia 128MB GeForce 6800, SB Live

Well, this has even peaked my curiosity a bit. We'll have to try the demo but let me ask a few of questions:1. You say it does not provide progressive taxi instructions. But it does provide taxi instructions - correct? You know, directions to the runway but it won't update or warn me about an approaching aircraft on the same taxiway enroute, right?2. For those using it already, are you guys using anything to suppliment AI sound effects? I sure would hate to give up my FSHotseat with the AI Blast sound effects. I know there are a few items in the library that are supposed to enhance AI sounds. Any of you using them and do they work?3. Any issues popping up using this with AISmooth?thx

You can follow a heading to the runway threshold, which shows up in the Adv Display window, along with top down view in FS9. I have FS Nav , so it is a really simple to see where I am and where I have need to go to get to the active. Keep in mind, you can pick your own runway, if you don't want to taxi a long distance. I had FSHot FX and deleted it when I installed RC4. I don't miss it a bit, the ATC during the entire flight more than makes up for a few minutes of sound around the airport as I am taxiing to the runway.....I have not had one AI aircraft pop up on me using RC4 only and I have Ultimate Traffic with FS9 traffic set to 100%. I haven't used AI smooth since I got RC4.... Here is a new one I discovered this evening while flying around with RC4. I cranked up the vertical air currents generation ( whatever it is called) in Active Sky 6, and after I did that I started getting Turbulence Pireps to the Centers, where I was flying...... :) :)

>been through it before with v1 and v2. "it was too big, can>you break it up into smaller zips to download". "you have too>many small zips, can you make it one big zip for me to>download".>>then the people with bad connections, have a problem>downloading it, and they've already paid for it. >>what a hassle. maybe things have changed. but i lived through>that, and i don't care to do it again. look at the delays when>something major is released. even the MS servers were a little>busy when the CTP December build of Vista came out.Hi JD,I have RC4 and love it. No complaints here. I would agree, however, that in 2006, there is no technical or business reason not to offer downloads as one purchase option. The bandwidth is pretty standard these days in the US and most parts of the world, and a CD option would always be available for the laggards with dial up. Flight1 offers an expert e-commerce system that provides protection for both the developer and consumer, and the opportunity for reaching many new customers becomes a reality. Radar Contact is one of only two products that I bought via CD, since I much prefer downloads. I think I'm not alone. Just some feedback for your consideration. Neil

From your post date...it was BLOODY Christmas day!! Of course there will not be much traffic. Way to spin how bad Vatsim is..gimme a break.
