FSDT Live Update + ORBX SCA compatibility fixes warning

I've found that when using ORBX SCA region in P3DV4 with FSDT airports we still must do the compatibility fixes found in the ORBX forums to KLAX, KLAS etc.

The problem is that if you should happen to run the FSDT live update program it will undo all your compatibility fixes and go ahead and overwrite everything. Found this out after I had to run that Live Update to fix another compatibility problem that was going on with Couatl and Aerosoft Twin Otter.

I don't think i will be running that live update anymore unless I'm impacted by a glitch or bug.

Hello! Are you sure about that? The compatibility fixes are essentially disabling ORBX .bgl files. I don't see how the FSDT live update program would re-enable ORBX files.

So are these FSDT compatibility fixes necessary for users of FTX SCA and FSDT KLAX? Does this still matter for those of us in P3D v4? Cause I noticed something weird, the cars see to be floating in midair at around KLAX, and this was after I ran FSDT Live Update.

After staying away from FSDT for years in fear of Couatl, I decided to take a deep breath and try again with P3Dv4 (Good thing I kept all those serial numbers!)

So far, it's been a good experience, but like others, I quickly discovered that Klax and Orbx don't go together! 

I could fiddle with this until it came time to tear my hair out, but Instead I'm going to just punt, and keep an eye out for Flytampas version of the airport..... someday.

I no longer have even the slightest patience for fiddling under the hood anymore.

Perhaps I will remove FSDT KLAX completely and use the stock P3D v4 airport. I'm also losing my patience with this.

Doesn't it work like it did in P3d v3?  You just had to disable a few files.  I'm literally installing SCA in v4 right now.  And have already installed LAX and LAS by FSDT.

You disable certain files for las and add a cvx file that Holger made, but if you run the fsdt live update installer anytime after it puts the files back in.

Tried it - doesn't work because the updater just adds back the files that had to be renamed/deleted. Umberto has posted that he's talking to OrbX about it ... 

I had issues at KLAS but not at KLAX - what was the issue there?

Guys, I fail to understand how this happens. You mean that FSDT live update puts back ORBX files? How is that possible? The compatibility fix is to remove some ORBX .bgls, not FSDT. Am I missing something?

Hi Daedalus,

Orbx provide a specific file in their compatability forum that overwrites an FSDT file (to address some image/terrain blending I think), this is in addition to disabling other bgls. This extra file goes in the FSDT KLAX directory and it's that, that is being overwritten by the live updater I think....

All files are in the ORBX folders, that's why I fail to see how FSDT live can re-enable them..

Sorry - confused KLAS with KLAX!

KLAS has the fsdt specific fix... And they've just updated live update to stop it over writing!
