VATSIM > Radar Contact. I'd rather talk to real people. Not to mention VATSIM is free...I would include the LvlD 763 in that list as well. Great for med/long haul ops. As far as TrackIR, I'd pass. Unless you can fly in the VC at reasonable FPS in somewhat bad wx, it's not worth it. ActiveCamera or Walk and Follow will be fine.-Matt

I love my track IR3 with VE. However I almost never use it flying in MSFS. It is great for VFR flying and awesome in Lomac and IL-2 FB where your looking around over your shoulder and such. I won't fly those sims with out it.But for IFR is is really over kill.Just my opinion......

What is Flight Zone 01, please?

>I am thinking about radar contact 4. But I heard the voices>sound a bit robotic. I like how it supports sids and stars.>>I would rather just wait for FSX. But if it is truly as great>as it sounds, I'll tell my dad to buy it for me.>>Thanks>>Alex>>http://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg>http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgRadar Contact is one of the best add-ons I have bought for FS9 and I use it on every flight now. There was a Vatsim TGIF flight last night with my virtual airline ( UPSVAC) as a participant. I have not flown with Vatsim for weeks, since I bought RC4, and decided to give it a shot ( I wouldn't even think about flying with FS9 ATC, since it is beyond ridiculous now that I have flown RC4) . So I locate my 767 at KATL airport for a flight to Miami, get everything fired up, and log onto Vatsim. I see a text ground controller , no Clearance delivery, so I type in that I need IFR Clearance to Miami. As soon as I do this, the controller tells me he is signing off and I should contact tower. Now I look at the available controllers along my route and there is only one signed on for the entire 600+ mile trip besides the text only tower controller at ATL..That's it, I sign off Vatsim, fire up RC4, and had a very enjoyable flight with excellent ATC all the way, and a bunch of AI aircraft to look at , to boot.

You don't have much in the way of scenery (I'm from the Boston area, too). Is the only flying you do IFR? You do have BEV, so I will suggest some other sceneries, in order of priority.- FSGenesis US Landclass- 38m Mesh (I use the freeware FSG here at Avsim, I understand the payware FSG is even better. I have found some ruts on the Maine coast, otherwise I haven't noticed any other errors).- UT/USA- UT/Canada-AKDo you have any small addons you haven't mentioned? I concentrate my flying around the northeast, and have collected a whole bunch of stuff for this area from New York to Toronto to the Maritimes. Let me know if you want a list of what I have put together.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

Go ahead, Skorna, hit the alert button. I firmly believe that someone who has a vested interest in a product shouldn't be recommending it to someone asking for advice. It is flagrantly biased, no matter how good others think it is.

Flight Environment + Weather Maker Pro or ASV weather engine or freeware FSMetar. Or wait for next incarnation of Flight Environment which is rumored to have Weather Maker Pro built in.FE clouds work the best for me.

I will second that!!! ASV 6 should be the default MSFS RRL

The most impactful add-ons for me are:TrackIR: I've had version 2 and now version 4 Pro. This is the one addition that has most changed my experience. Once you try it you'll know what I mean.USA Roads, Ultimate Terrain series: Roads and water where they should be, with a whole lot of other features. Active Sky and Flight Environment together: Flying on instruments is all about weather and clouds, right? FS Genesis Mesh: correct terrain elevation data packaged wellMegascenery: If you like VFR and don't mind a little waiting for the textures to load, photo scenery really takes the generic world of MSFS textures and landclass and makes things much more real. Radar Contact: Better than default MS ATC and good for instrument flight. I just wish it had VFR abilities. Many, many great aircraft from the likes of Dreamfleet, Flight1, Carenado, FSD, PMDG, LevelD

ThanksI usualyy fly from tampa to miami (flytampa airports) with the atr and fs2crew. I use freeflow florida. I fly with fair weather and FE is perfect for me. I saw a radar contact movie anf the voices did sound robotic so the ms atc is good for me. Dirk98 FlightZone 01 go here flightscenery.comThanksAlexhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/139680.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

the voices will be improved shortly with version 4.01 which should be out in a week or so.jd

Alex,If you still use the default ATC, then have a look at EditVoicepack (freeware, available on Avsim), and use the update tool to download modifications and to accelerate the voices. It will revolutionise the default ATC for you. (And if you don't like it, it can all be undone automarically.)Happy flying.Martin

Well, FsCrew for the LDS 767-300 isn't out yet, but when it is, it's sure to put the ATR72 and the PMDG 737 in the shade. So I'd be inclined to save your money and get those 2 together later on....
