Snow...why won't it melt?

Greetings:Here at KBOS, it is April 14th and FS still shows snow on the ground. Can FS be configured to eliminate snow at the Spring Solstice? ThxChris

Hi Chris,No, it is all based on latitude. You can move the date forward to find when things will change over.Don't feel bad, KDWT is the same way, and we have not had snow for a heck of a long time!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Yet KTAN (30 miles south of BOS), does not have snow. Go figure :)

>Yet KTAN (30 miles south of BOS), does not have snow. Go>figure :)In general this has been a bad winter for any kind of date-based new england reality. I've flown with the "early winter" set from BEV and it's been appropriate all through "hard winter" season. We're clearly in spring now - set your date forward to late may and all is right with the world.

I like snow...Scott :+

We have the same problem here in Buffalo. Even here we have not had snow on the ground for quite some time. I try to remember to push my date up to the end of April. That makes things look a little more accurate.

For CYYZ the date for snow/no snow is April 18th ( I have tested it). Just four more days lads!

I can't get the settings correct so that large puddles will evaporate either...tongue in cheek; couldn't resist:)

I've been playing around with the seasons file. My initial goal was to create hard winter representing snow cover after the blizard that wnet through on 14 Feb 06. Since then I have been updating my files (which were only correct for that single day) by using actual snow cover as reported by the US NOAA snow and ice coverage data. The scope of my files is North America. I have used data from this winter and currently the seasons are "correct" at least so far as snow coverage is concerned for the period 19 Nov - 19 Apr. The current file uses the data from 1 Apr for all the remianing months of the year, so of course is invalid (but can just be deleted or renamed.I haven't updated my original files on AVSIM, but maybe I will upload the current file, and maybe update again in June or so.I have no way (or haven't figured out a way) to determine when to show spring/summer/fall seasons. If some one knows of any data set that could be used to determine the seasons, I could incorporate it into the file. So in my file, I simply duplicated the default FS9 coverage for the non-hard winter seasons. Here is the current month's seasons (white=hw, gray=wi, green=sp, yellow=su, red=fa). Note that the season data in FS9 has a resolution of about 10km, so smaller areas (such as some mountain peaks) may not show snow.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/147178.jpgscott s..

Since they are Canadian, the z is pronounced "zet", I believe.

He is also an accomplished pilot. This summer I hope to get some video of a flight in his Twin Baron.
