April 27, 200620 yr Cloud9 is about to release their LAX airport. The LA area is quite intensive given the high amount of traffic. I see my system slow down a bit coming into this area. Does anyone know if Cloud9 will have try before you buy version like EHAM? I tried EHAM intent on buying it but with UTEurope my system just bogged down so I held off. Just wondering. Mike Keigley
April 27, 200620 yr there were less quality textures for EHAM, and the biggest slowdown turned out to be the city scenery. when that is removed, frames were betterI am anxiously awaiting LAX. when someone releases PANC, I will be in freighter heaven. I havent flown in and out of the LA area for months because of it. thankfuly with UT europe and the countless great sceneries I have enjoyed learning and flying in the EU.Heres hoping it is good on the frames, but I bet it will be better than EHAM. what will definately slow it down will be the massive amount of traffic the socal area gets. its just mind boggling. I dont know the numbers, but if LAX itself is way up there in traffic, imagine adding BUR, ONT, SNA, LGB, etc to that list!
April 27, 200620 yr I agree, I fly PMDG's 744F alot and I would also love a PANC. That area is just breathtaking. As for the Amsterdam city scenery slowing down the framerates it might be worth a try thanks for the info. Mike Keigley
April 27, 200620 yr There site indicates Friday is the release date. Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
April 27, 200620 yr All Cloud9 products can be downloaded and run on a "trial" basis for about ten minutes. That way you can see if it is going to work well on your system.I have Amsterdam and it is a top quality product with good framerates. Graeme Butler
April 28, 200620 yr Their site is saying there will be another weeks delay. :) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
April 28, 200620 yr As a member of the beta team I can tell you that there is only a very light impact on fps and that KLAX reaches the "Fly Tampa standard".The main thing to keep in mind is that traffic can seriously slow down your machine on areas like LA so when you'll install the scenery for trying it, don't forget to put the traffic slider at arround 50% to get nice fps.YOU'LL LOVE IT :-)David - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.

I'd rather stick with default and have full AI. The default is hard enough on frames, if an addon can't match or improve upon the default in terms of performance, then I don't see the point of it (IMO)Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
April 28, 200620 yr just like im willing to give up framerate hits with 100% AI, I am willing to give up framerate hits with amazingly detailed scenery.edit: oh well, its delayed a week. I can survive, though!I do hope they get the afcad down, especially cargo, GA, and feeder parking. that is a must at a busy airport like LAX
April 28, 200620 yr Yeah I could care less about all the detailing and eye candy when its a slideshow. I just recently bought some payware airport sceneries as Ive always avoided them. Its nice to enjoy the scenery at the gate and when you taxi out but a fluid take off and especially short approach and landing is crucial. If I can get the overall sensation of a busy major airport with most the major landmarks and layout and still get good fps, Im happy. I could care less about moving vehicles, moving gates, signs, billboards and the dozens of other worthless eyecandies that only make for good screenshots.
April 28, 200620 yr >> if an addon can't match or improve upon the default in terms of>performance, then I don't see the point of it (IMO)>don't you agree that it's very hard to find an addon that enhances in one hand and improves performances in another one?there is always a compromise to find between eye candies and perf and Cloud9 did it cleverly.again, KLAX new scenery has a very low impact on frames.best regards,David - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
April 28, 200620 yr Author It's not the AFCAD I'm worried about - it's the approach system. After totally fouling up EHAM to make it a VFR only airport, I hope they don't do the same thing to KLAX.The root cause of the problem with EHAM is that who ever did the airport changed the runway designations and did not rewrite all the approach data in XML with the new runway numbers. A real basic rookie mistake, and frightening that it got out through testing.
April 28, 200620 yr Author Do all the approaches still come up on the default GPS for the user aircraft? Are AI aircraft correctly assigned to ILS approaches as in the default airport?
April 28, 200620 yr Reggie, is there something I can download to fix this problem with EHAM? I never knew that, thats too bad.
