Maybe try and see it from a developers perspective - if LM recommend that everyone is using the latest client, then surely every developer must also recommend that users use the latest client (and push out updates to support that)? If a platform update allows a developer to add a new feature or effect, should they hold off just in case it annoys someone who doesn't want to upgrade their client? (I say this as a non-developer).
