744 rain effect

Recommended Posts

Hi PMDG,

Considering that the 748 will still take I suppose at least 4-6 months before release (I would bet we won't see it in 2018), we can say that the 744 will be below the "current standard" as to the windshield rain effect, that is appearing on all the main liners from the other companies. Couldn't the effect be fit into the 744 in the meantime, without having to wait all that long?

Thank you.

I am almost sure that PMDG said they will upgrade older models with new features, I think it is just a matter of time.

All the new features will be released on the -8 first. Porting back to the 744 without having the -8 released is not as easy as it sounds.

Don't wanna start a release prediction debate, but what makes you think it will take so long? It has started already beta testing probably. I would bet for this summer.

Sorry, I assumed that based on PMDG's CEO announcement at the FlightSimExpo.

The B744 has been RTM for months, and has had updates since.  It isn't in beta.  The B748 has not started beta yet.... any day I suppose but I guess you are trying to make a point? I don't get your point.

The 748 is built on top of the 744. so the issues that have occured on te base model might be resolved and what‘s been added will be a lot less then with the original model. Of course new features can screw up the „old“ development but I think PMDG have enough experience that they can rule out that quite fast. So all we have to wait for is the beta announcement. If it came in October or November I‘d be with you expecting it in 2019. but I think that it will enter beta as soon as 4.3 is out.

I think he meant 'was' instead of 'has'.

Yes, sorry, I was just trying to recall how long the 744 was in beta before being released...

Yes that’s what I would have assumed too. Would rather it was announced after it went into beta. Anything else is just tempting fate.

Given the significant differences in the 747-8 I wouldn’t bet on a short beta testing period.
