August 11, 200619 yr Thanks for the Cheyenne video Krister. Looks like a real nice plane. I will get the CD boxed set! Out 25 Aug!
April 12, 200719 yr Sorry for making such an old thread active again but just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributed with great pros and cons for the two aircrafts!I have just ordered the Cheyenne myself and I'm truely looking forward to get it...I'm sure it will be fun to do some flying in this kind of a/c after months of flying in the LDS 767 which is also one amazing a/c!!

April 12, 200719 yr The Aeroworx Kingair works in FSX.Has anyone tried the Cheyenne in FSX? or is it FS9 only?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

April 13, 200719 yr Like Manny, I too use the king air in fsx. Here's a detailed summary for those interested: The Collins EADI, Collins EHSI, and Honeywell TCAS don't work for me in the modern cockpit, so instead I use the analogue version, the equivalent gauges of which run properly (make sure the inverter switch is flipped of course). You could also replace the modern non-functionals with defaults from the king air 350. Additionally, the flight plan display does not work on the WXR 270, nor does the pop up KLN 90b. So I have replaced them in the panel.cfg with the simflyer KMD 550 mfd/KLN 89 gps combo, which works in fsx on top of fs9. The package is only ten bucks; to me it's easily worth it. King airs often have a kmd 850 or avidyne ex500 paired with a kln 89 or 90, so it's a close match given that aeroworx has covered so much already. The main 2d panel does not come up and some of the other 2d windows are a little funky, so I deleted all the window entries out of the panel.cfg, keeping only the fully functioning virtual cockpit. The other issue is that the custom autopilot controls don't seem to work. So I use keyboard commands: z to enable, ctrl z for altitude hold, ctrl n for nav, ctrl a for app, etc. No big deal. Aside from the above, everything else - including start up/shut down, annunciators, and the vc click spots - works perfectly. Plus, you could always replace the WXR 270 with the default gps. With the performance patches (aeroworx forum), the king air also runs much smoother for me (in fsx too) than the DA cheyenne. I also think the king air series are the most beautiful planes in the sky.Hope this was helpful; if you want things to look clean in fsx you have to edit the unused versions out of the aircraft.cfg, order them accordingly, i.e. "fltsim.xx", and make some 256x128 thumbnails. The whole process is a lot less complicated than it seems. The panel.cfg editing, for instance, involves minimal copying and pasting. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/we...een/kingair.jpg
April 13, 200719 yr Still no answer if the Cheyenne works with FSX...! And er... is there a demo of the Cheyenne...? I'm afraid fps might get too choppy with it...
April 13, 200719 yr Figured out how to get the king air modern EFIS cockpit vc working better in fsx! I was wondering why the EADI and EHSI would display properly as 2d pop ups but not in the vc. So, experimenting, i took out the last coordinate for each in the panel.cfgunder [Vcockpit01]gauge26=awx.b20!EADI, 7,472,240,233,vcgauge27=awx.b20!EHSI, 6,716,240,233,vcbecomesgauge26=awx.b20!EADI, 7,472,240,gauge27=awx.b20!EHSI, 6,716,240,Now they warm up and everything. Interestingly, this also got the flight plan to display properly on the WXR-270 :) The kln 90 still doesn't work, however; so i'll continue using the kln 89 by simflyer. Nor does the vsi, so you have to replace it with that of the default king air: gauge28=KingAir!Vsi, 249,782,177,167,vcAgain, you have to use autopilot key commands and add a new one for nav/gps switching (which is normally blank), as the EFIS cockpit lacks the switch of the analogue cockpit. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/we...en/kingairm.jpgAs far as I know, the Cheyenne doesn't work in fsx.
April 13, 200719 yr I installed the Cheyenne into FSX last night. While I haven't done extensive testing to confirm that it is fully functional, everything that I did check on a quick flight appeared to work and behave correctly. There were some minor problems e.g. black textures, some switches not responding to mouse clicks, etc but nothing critical. There didn't appear to be a significant framerate impact either.
April 13, 200719 yr I read the entire thread but I am not still sure whether the Aeroworx King Air installs and runs out of the box on FSX/Vista.
April 13, 200719 yr After reading weeniemcween's post it should be clear this is not the case... This is an old topic that doesn't belong anymore in this FS X forum. ;) Pity... I found the Cheyenne quite interesting...
